New Delhi: It was a chilly New Year's Eve here Wednesday and the moderate fog delayed over 100 trains, an official said.
According to Northern Railways, 93 trains coming to the national capital were running late due to the fog, eight were rescheduled and two were cancelled.
The day's minimum temperature at 8.6 degrees Celsius, slightly above the season's average, came as a relief after days of intense chill, especially the season's coldest day at 2.6 degrees Celsius Sunday.
"There was moderate fog in the morning, but the day will be mainly clear," said an India Meteorological Department official.
The day's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 21 degrees Celsius.
Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 86 percent.
Tuesday's minimum temperature was 4.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, while the maximum was 20 degrees Celsius, slightly below the average.
