Chennai: A three-member team of doctors from the Osmania Hospital arrived in Chennai today to conduct fresh autopsy of six of the victims of the police firing in Seshachalam forests of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh on April 7.
The Hyderabad High Court had yesterday ordered fresh autopsies for the six (out of the 20 people killed) after their relatives moved the court seeking fresh postmortems.
The High Court had also ordered teams of medical experts from either Osmania Hospital or Gandhi Hospital (both state-run institutions) to fly to Chennai for the purpose.
The team of doctors comprise M Taquiddin Khan, Abhijit Subhedar and KV Ramana Murthy, sources said.
They would go to Tivannamalai, about 190 kms from Chennai, where the bodies were being kept at a government hospital, to conduct the fresh postmortem, police said.
On April 16, the Hyderabad High Court had directed the Andhra Pradesh government to conduct fresh autopsy on the body of another victim Sasi Kumar in response to the application filed by his wife Muniyammal.
