Raipur: It was a close shave for Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh after his helicopter faced a technical snag in the air today.

The chief minister was returning from the Maoist-hit Sukma district to state capital Raipur when somewhere over the Kanker district, the chopper lost control and descended 150 feet.

It was the pilot's presence of mind and expertise that did not let the chopper descend further and he soon regained control, officials said.

"The flight director lost control and shock was felt in the helicopter. We took control and then we flew manually," said pilot GK Panda.

"Problems may have been with the electrical equipment. Our technical team will tell about it," he added.

The helicopter, which also had state education Minister Kedar Kashyap on board, then returned to Raipur where it is undergoing an investigation, officials said.

All on board the helicopter are safe.
