Highlights of what the Supreme Court told the CBI:
- Can you tell us, is the Law Minister entitled to call for such (CBI investigation) reports?
- Joint Secretary Coal, Joint Secretary PMO - can they also look into the status report?

- As an investigator you (CBI) know you are the master, you don't have to seek instructions from anyone

Supreme Court directs the CBI to file an affidavit by 6th May which should be entirely candid, truthful. Next hearing in SC on May 8.
"These are oral observations of the Supreme Court. Till these figure in the written judgement it is unfair to come to conclusions... We will wait till the final judgement is out," said Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party
After the Supreme Court's strong censure today Parliamentary affairs Minister Kamal Nath briefed the Prime Minister and Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Sources said both leaders are disturbed at the developments

- Parliament should think of evolving a suitable mechanism for independent mechanism of CBI
