Coimbatore Anna varsity V-C may face inquiry
Chennai: He could be Tamil Nadu's first Vice Chancellor to face a preliminary vigilance enquiry. NDTV has a copy of an order from the Tamil Nadu Governor's office to the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption to enquire into allegations against this academician - Dr R Radhakrishnan. He heads the Coimbatore Chapter of Anna University. Over a hundred engineering colleges fall under his jurisdiction.

The top University official has come under the scanner for the alleged purchase of over 60 acres of land in Nanjudapuram Village and Avinashi worth over a crore rupees in the name of Prahar Foundation - a trust floated by his wife last year. These documents with NDTV show that the Foundation started with an initial corpus fund of just a thousand rupees.

Questions over outsourcing an English speaking course from EBEK institute for engineering students and the award of a contract to a private firm - Mindlogicx, for evaluation of answer scripts have also been raised in a complaint by a Chennai-based advocate.

Dr Radhakrishnan has chosen not to comment. Sources in his office say it is a witch-hunt launched to oust him from the post.

The Vigilance Enquiry is yet to begin. Sources say the Tamil Nadu government is seeking legal opinion over implementing the order of the Governor. Incidentally, the Governor also happens to be the Chancellor of the University.
