Chandigarh:
Cold conditions persisted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana as the minimum temperature in the region hovered below normal in the twin agrarian states on Friday.
The minimum temperature hovered between one to two degrees Celsius below normal at several parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT Office said in Chandigarh.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was the coldest place with a low of seven degrees Celsius which was one notch below normal.
While Karnal had a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the minimum temperature at Patiala settled at nine degrees Celsius.
Among other places, Hisar and Chandigarh had an identical low of 9.1 degrees Celsius, two notches each below normal, followed by 9.8 degrees Celsius at Ambala, 9.9 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana, 10.5 degrees Celsius at Narnaul and 10.8 degrees Celsius at Bhiwani.
The MeT has forecast rise in day as well as night temperatures in the region during the next 24 hours.
