Cold Conditions Grip Punjab, Haryana: Amritsar Shivers At 1.9 Degree Celsius

Chandigarh: Cold conditions today prevailed in Punjab and Haryana even as minimum temperatures hovered a few notches above normal level in most parts of both states.

Amritsar in Punjab was the coldest place in both states as it recorded minimum at 1.9 degree Celsius, one degree below normal, a MeT department report said today.

The Union Territory Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, braved cold weather at 5.6 degree Celsius.

In Haryana's Ambala and Hisar, minimum temperatures settled at 5.6 degree Celsius and 4.2 degree Celsius respectively, while Narnaul shivered at 2.5 degree Celsius, two notches below normal.

In Punjab, Ludhiana, the industrial hub of Punjab, recorded minimum at 4.3 degree Celsius, three notches below normal while minimum temperature in Patiala settled at 6.2 degree Celsius.

Yesterday, the maximum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered around 17 degree Celsius.

MeT department in its forecast said weather is likely to remain dry while moderate to dense fog is likely to occur at some places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.
