Three persons were killed in fog- related incidents even as intense cold conditions continued to prevail across Uttra Pradesh today, throwing normal life out of gear.
According to the local Meteorological department, most places across the state were affected by fog. Snowfall in neighbouring Uttarakhand has also affected the weather in UP.
Two persons died in Badaun and several others were injured when a tractor trolley collided with a Delhi-bound bus due to dense fog in Sahaswan area.
"Shishupal (34) and Moolchand (50) were killed when the tractor trolley in which they were travelling collided head-on with the bus near Silhari village late last night," police said.
In another case, 14-year-old boy Sushil was killed in Barabanki district after being hit by a bus due to dense fog.
Night temperatures dipped at many places in Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Meerut, Gorakhpur.
The mercury level stayed below normal in most of the places including Varanasi, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Allahabad, Moradabad, Lucknow and Agra.
The minimum temperature across the state was recorded at 2.3 degrees Celsius in Meerut.
The fog has affected train and air traffic with flights and trains running several hours behind schedule.
Meteorological office forecast says that tomorrow will be dry and fog would occur at many places over the state.
The weatherman has warned of dense to very dense fog at a few places.
