Cold Wave Sweeps Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh: Amritsar in Punjab turned out to be the coldest place in the plains as ongoing cold wave conditions continued unabated in the state and neighbouring Haryana today.

According to MeT Department report, Amritsar shivered at a low of 2.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, while the temperatures in Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 4.6 degrees Celsius and 6.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, also experienced a cold night at 5.6 degrees Celsius.

Narnaul in Haryana shivered at 2.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal limits, the report said. Other places in Haryana which shivered under biting chill included Hisar recording a low of 4.4 degrees Celsius, down three notches while Karnal recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal limit.

Ambala also recorded a cold night at 6.1 degrees Celsius, according to MeT department.
