Complete Extent of Cyclone Hudhud Will Be Known Today, Says Chandrababu Naidu: Highlights

Hyderabad: As Cyclone Hudhud hit Visakhapatnam on the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu spoke to NDTV on the situation on ground. Mr Naidu said that he has asked the Centre to declare national calamity.

Here are the highlights:

• Severe damage from Cyclone Hudhud, complete extent will be known tomorrow (Monday).
• It is a very severe situation. We are unable to access the actual position.
• Unable to assess situation because we have no access.
  
• Now it has crossed the coast totally.
• No towers are working...no phones.
• Have asked Centre to declare national calamity.
• Both Centre and state have done good work.
• This is the biggest cyclone in the recent past.
• We are asking people to go for crowd sourcing.
• Have developed an app so we can use technology to get a better idea of the situation.
• Combining technology and human effort to manage disaster.
• Centre continuously in touch with us. They are also reviewing situation.
• The Home Minister called twice. Have requested them to send a special team to assess the situation.
• There are plenty of limitations. We are making arrangement to provide food in many affected districts tomorrow.
