Congress and NCP are set to finalise seat-sharing for Maharshtra Assembly polls on Wednesday, sources have told NDTV. The final seat-sharing ratio will be announced in Delhi on Thursday.
However, NCP sources told NDTV that the deal with Congress may take two days to finalise.
The NCP and Congress on Tuesday finally held a joint meeting on how to divide the 288 Maharashtra Assembly seats between them.
The central leaders are already believed to have reached a broad agreement. But the key lies with top state level leaders as the details have been left to them.
Earlier, NDTV sources said that Congress leaders were offering the NCP 109 seats, while the Congress wanted to contest on 179 seats.
Some reports said that some Congressmen wanted tie-up, but friendly fights in pockets. The NCP, meanwhile, has rejected the proposal for any friendly fights.
On Monday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi visited Mumbai to inaugurate the renovated office of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee. Defence Minister A K Antony who is in charge of the party's Maharashtra affairs and NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar accompanied Gandhi.
