Congress alliance fine, says Karunanidhi, slams "media dharma"

Congress alliance fine, says Karunanidhi, slams "media dharma"
Chennai: In an editorial today, DMK chief M Karunanidhi has blamed the media for trying to sever his party's alliance with the Congress.

"Of the 31 questions posed to me during the press conference at the end of DMK's high-powered committee on June 10, as many as 22 of them centred on the 2G spectrum allocation scam and its impact on DMK-Congress relations," he wrote in the DMK mouthpiece 'Murasoli'.

Mr Karunanidhi alleged that reporters wanted to create "confusion" and "somehow break the alliance".

On Friday, Mr Karunanidhi met with his party's core committee after the Delhi High Court refused bail for his daughter, Kanimozhi, who is in jail in connection with the 2G telecom scam. There was much speculation about whether Mr Karunanidhi would pull his six ministers from the government to protest against the inquiry and charges against his daughter. However, after the meeting, he said he had no problem with the Congress, choosing instead to attack the CBI, which is investigating the 2G scam.

"None of the party workers is agitated. Only some media are agitated and wailing and writing reports since their intention (of breaking the alliance) did not materialize. And reporters ask such questions at the behest of their management...Hail Manu dharma, hail media dharma," he said in his editorial.
