New Delhi:
Even before the end of the last phase of polling, the phones have been ringing down the road at 10 Janpath.
The Congress' first plan of action is to reach out to those in the UPA. But after the 16th, existing allies could be dumped for new ones.
And that's based on this internal assessment.
- The party expects 165 plus in overall seats
- 14 in the swing state of Tamil Nadu, along with the DMK
- 16 in AP
- 15 seats in UP
- And 22 in West Bengal, along with Trinamool Congress
Potential allies include:
- Jayalalithaa. If Amma gets more seats, the Congress may dump the DMK
- Naveen Patnaik's BJD
- Even Mayawati is not off the table
- And Third Front parties like the JDs
So, anything goes after the 16th of May.
