Udaipur:

Acknowledging that the Congress' connection with the people has been "broken", former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi announced on Sunday that the party will undertake a yatra in October to re-establish and strengthen it.

Mr Gandhi said the party has to accept the reality and work hard among the people to reconnect. "We will have to accept that our connections have been broken from the masses, but the people know that it is the Congress that can lead the nation ahead," he said.

Congress manifesto to promise scrapping EVMs, reintroduce paper ballots
The Congress leaders participating in the ongoing Chintan Shivir in Udaipur agreed to a call to include in the party's manifesto the removal of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from the electoral system while also vowing to reintroduce the paper ballots if the party comes to power at the Centre.

Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan emphasised the need for the party to win the Assembly polls that are lined up before the commencement of the Lok Sabha polls in 2024.

Congress Chintan Shivir discusses role of EVMs in party's poll debacles
The ongoing Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir in Udaipur discussed the issue of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the brainstorming sessions over the poll debacles in the recent elections.

Deliberations over the party's strategy to find winning ways took place during the first two days of the three-day Shivir.

According to the sources, a presentation was made in the Shivir regarding the possibility of the hacking of the EVMs which the Opposition parties have questioned in the past.
