Congress Opposes Government's Move To Reintroduce Class X Board Exam
Congress opposed move to reintroduce Class 10 board exam for CBSE schools from next year.
New Delhi: Congress today opposed the move to reintroduce compulsory Class 10 board examination for CBSE schools from the 2017-18 academic year.

"The government should not decide what the child should do? This is my firm belief.

"CBSE Class 'X' Board were optional. Whichever child wants to take, he should be allowed to take the exam. If he does not want, he need not take it. Why should the government have to decide what the child must take?" party spokesman Kapil Sibal told reporters.

Mr Sibal, a former HRD Minister, was asked to react on the decision of his successor Prakash Javadekar of reintroducing the exam.

Mr Javadekar had yesterday announced that the government will reintroduce compulsory class X board examination for CBSE schools from the 2017-18 academic year.
