New Delhi: The Congress today hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Chandigarh administration declaring a holiday in schools tomorrow to coincide with his visit to the city.

Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said that shutting down a school over visit of Prime Minister affects children's education schedule and the holiday had been declared during the examinations.

"It shows the value accorded by him (the Prime Minister) and his Human Resource Development Minister to education," he said.

The Chandigarh administration declared a holiday in city schools tomorrow since several roads in New Delhi will be blocked by police and other security agencies for the Prime Minister's day-long visit to attend four events in the city.

Mr Modi will inaugurate the international terminal of Chandigarh airport and then attend convocation at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. He will also address a public rally at the Sector 25 ground.
