Congress today said that it plans to raise the recent issues of corruption including the Lalit Modi row and the Vyapam scam with the Modi government in the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament.

Addressing a series of party meetings in the district, former union minister P Chidambaram alleged that Lalit Modi had committed crime against the nation and it was wrong for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to "help" him.

He also attacked PM Narendra Modi for keeping quiet on major issues rocking the nation and speaking only about other matters.

Congress will raise these issues in the Monsoon session of Parliament, beginning on July 21, he said.

On the Vyapam scam, he said, "so far 47 people died under suspicious circumstances as they tried to expose the scam. Important persons, including the dean of a medical college died".

Hinting towards further corruption on the part of the ruling government, the former Finance Minister said that although a CBI probe had been ordered in the scam, "it was anybody's guess as to what will happen".

"People feel that the BJP government is anti-people and it belongs to the capitalists, fraudsters and gamblers in the stock market," he said.
