Congress's Covert Support Helped CPI(M) Rule West Bengal: Trinamool Congress

Congress's Covert Support Helped CPI(M) Rule West Bengal: Trinamool Congress

"Congress always helped CPI-M covertly," alleged TMC leader Manas Bhuyan.

Agartala: Manas Bhuyan, who recently joined Trinamool Congress (TMC) after quitting Congress, today said CPI(M) could remain in power in West Bengal as Congress always helped them covertly.

"Congress always helped CPI-M covertly and that was the reason that they could not be ousted from power and ruled the state for such a long time," he told a gathering organised by TMC in Agartala.

He said Mamata Banerjee was the best Chief Minister in the country and she was improving the standard of living of the people.

Abhishek Banerjee, another TMC leader said, West Bengal was now a state of good governance and people were bearing the fruits of development.

"The huge crowd in this meeting is the indication that people want change here because they are fed up with the misrule of CPI-M. Mamata Banerjee announced that CPI-M would be ousted from power in the 2018 Tripura Assembly elections. I also foresee the change after coming to the state," he said.

Ms Banerjee alleged that 150 chit funds had exploited and cheated people of the state with active indulgence from the leaders of the ruling CPI-M with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also inaugurating many chit fund offices.

"If Madan Mitra could be punished for his involvement with chit fund companies, Tripura Chief Minister also could be jailed for his involvement with the chit funds," he added.

The Trinamool Congress leader of Tripura, Sudip Burman also called for ousting the CPI(M) government.
