Constable Arrested For Allegedly Throwing Minor Girl Off Roof of Police Station in Badaun

A minor girl has accused a constable of throwing her off the roof of a police station in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun

Badaun, Uttar Pradesh: A constable has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun after a 17-year-old girl accused him of throwing her off the roof of a police station after attempting to rape her.

The girl, studying in Class 12, has sustained serious injuries on her head and back and fractures in her pelvic bone. She is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bareilly.

The incident occurred on January 15 at the Ujhani police station. The mother of the teen alleged that the accused, Gaurav Tytler had called her daughter - who had left home for tuition in the evening - to the police station where he is posted. "He threw her off the roof. My daughter is fighting for her life in the hospital. Many of her bones have been fractured, I want justice," said the girl's mother.

Based on preliminary enquiry, the police have registered a First Information Report against the constable, charging him for attempt to murder, and are waiting to record the girl's statement. The constable, meanwhile, has been suspended. "After taking cognizance of the matter, action was taken against the constable. He was arrested and is being questioned," said RKS Rathore, Deputy Inspector General, Bareilly.

The incident comes just days after two constables were arrested for raping a 14-year-old girl in the district.

Badaun hit headlines in May last year after two teenage girls, who were cousins, were found hanging from a tree. The police said the girls were raped and hanged, but the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a report in last month that said all evidence pointed to suicide.
