A petition was filed in the Patna High Court on Monday seeking contempt proceedings against leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Rabri Devi for her alleged remarks 'scandalising and lowering' the authority of judiciary.
Senior advocate Ashutosh Ranjan Pandey filed the case seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against Rabri Devi, a former chief minister who ruled the state for over seven years.
Pandey in his petition charged the RJD leader with having 'scandalised and lowered' the authority of the judiciary in her election speech at Chapra on April four.
The RJD leader had accused the Nitish Kumar-led BJP-JD(U) government of "buying" the judiciary besides media in her speech.
The petition is likely to come up for hearing in a day or two, Pandey claimed.
An FIR was registered against RJD chief Lalu Prasad's wife at the Bheldi police station in Chhapra late last night for alleged 'rude and insulting' remarks against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and state JD(U) President Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lalan.
