Continue Chhagan Bhujbal's Treatment At Bombay Hospital, Enforcement Directorate Told

Chhagan Bhujbal is currently undergoing treatment at the private-run hospital for multiple health issues

Mumbai: In a temporary relief for NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, arrested in a money-laundering case, the Bombay High Court today asked the Enforcement Directorate o ED to continue to provide treatment to him at the Bombay Hospital till November 29.

The former Maharashtra PWD Minister is currently undergoing treatment at the private-run hospital for multiple health issues, including a heart problem and hypertension.

The high court is hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Mr Bhujbal challenging his arrest.

ED opposed Mr Bhujbal's plea to allow him to continue getting treatment at Bombay Hospital, saying it (ED) would decide this issue after getting medical reports.

However, the bench headed by Justice Ranjit More was of the view that Bhujbal can continue to get treatment at Bombay Hospital where he has been admitted and need not be shifted to
government-run J J Hospital or any other hospital.

The court deferred the hearing on Mr Bhujbal's petition till November 29.

Mr Bhujbal was arrested by the ED on March 14 in connection with Maharashtra Sadan scam and Kalina land case.

His lawyer argued that he should be given bail, as the ED did not follow the right procedure while arresting him, hence the arrest was illegal.

Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, appearing for ED, denied that procedures were not followed during the arrest.
