Kolkata: Under fire for making controversial 'shoot and rape' comments, Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal might not show up in the ongoing Parliament budget session as he has been hospitalised following 'high blood pressure'.
Doctors at a south Kolkata super-speciality private hospital said the MP was admitted in an emergency condition last night after he complained of a sudden spurt in his blood pressure.
Doctors said he also had high fever for the last 2-3 days and is a chronic patient of low backache.
"His health condition worsened last night and so we admitted him in an emergency condition. However, there is nothing serious now," officials of Belle Vue clinic said.
Women CPI(M) members had recently met Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and demanded his dismissal from Parliament.
Mr Pal had made an unconditional apology for allegedly threatening to kill CPI-M workers and having their women raped after he was asked by an embarrassed party leadership to do so.
