Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has spoken out on the Pokhran nuclear test.
Singh says it's a needless controversy, especially since the father of India's nuclear program, APJ Abdul Kalam, has clarified that the tests were successful.
It was an embarrassment when a senior scientist of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, K Santhanam, had put a question mark on the claims made by the government on the nuclear ability of the country.
He had claimed that the yield of the thermo-nuclear test conducted was much less than expected.
