Mumbai: Mumbai police constable Arun Jadhav, who suffered two bullet injuries while taking on the militants during 26/11 attack, resumed duty on Tuesday.
Jadhav, 41, was in the police jeep along with ATS chief Hemant Karkare, encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, additional commissioner of police Ashok Kamte and three police constables when Pakistani terrorists Ajmal Kasab and Abu Ismail attacked them.
While all six policemen were killed, Jadhav sustained two bullet injuries in his right arm.
"Sitting back home makes me relive the horrendous memories of 26/11. I will miss my mentor (Vijay Salaskar) but the show must go on," Jadhav, who has been in police service since 22 years, told PTI.
Recollecting the sequence of the horrendous attack, Jadav said, "After attacking our jeep, the two terrorists came up to our vehicle and pulled Karkare, Salaskar and Kamte's bodies out and threw them on the road. Assuming that we (constables) too are dead, the terrorists then got into the jeep and drove away".
"I survived because they thought I was dead," he said, adding that he would be soon called to depose as witness in the trial against Kasab and others.
