Cops Manhandled After Flagging Down Car In Bengal's Asansol
The three men, who were in a car with Bihar number plates, manhandled the policemen at the checkpost.
Asansol: A group of policemen were attacked by three men while checking cars at a check post in Bengal's Asansol. The incident, which took place at Neamatpur on Monday, was caught on camera.

The police, who have filed a case, said the car -- a Pajero with Bihar number plates - also bore a Bihar Vidhan Sabha sticker but was on way to Jharkhand from Asansol. The men, the police said, did not possess valid papers for the car and were drunk.

The police say the men were intent on driving through the checkpost even though they were flagged down.

They finally stopped when the police gave chase. But then the men got off the car and manhandled the policemen, pushing and shoving them in full public view.

The locals later caught two of the men, but the third managed to flee. They have been arrested.

"When they tried getting the car to the police station, the men attacked the policemen and assaulted them," said Biswajit Mahato, a senior officer of the local police. "We found some substance in the car, suspected to be marijuana, and we have sent it for verification. The driver of the car is absconding."
