New Delhi: India today reported at least 2,338 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,58,087. The active cases also increased to 17,883, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The number of death due to COVID-19 climbed to 5,24,630 with 19 fatalities in the last 24 hours.
The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.
An increase of 185 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.56 per cent, according to the ministry.

Puducherry Logs 5 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Puducherry registered five fresh cases of coronavirus during last 24 hours ending 10 am today, raising the aggregate to 1,65,859.
The department of health examined 1,273 samples today and detected the new cases.
Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release that the active cases were 16 after recovery of five cases. There was no fatality during last 24 hours in any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and the tally remained 1,962.
The overall recoveries stood at 1,63,881. The Health Department has examined so far 22,52,228 samples and found 18,97,138 out of them to be negative.
The test positivity rate today was 0.39 percent while fatality and recovery rates were 1.18 percent and 98.81 percent, respectively.
The Department of Health has administered so far 17,08,594 doses which comprised 9,67,164 first doses, 7,17,578 second doses and 23,852 booster doses.

One New COVID-19 Case In Andamans
One new COVID-19 case was reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, taking the caseload to 10,046, a health bulletin said today.
The fresh patient has a travel history, it said.
The archipelago now has three active cases, while two patients recuperated from the disease on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,914.
At least 129 patients have succumbed to the infection so far.
The administration has thus far tested over 7.38 lakh samples for COVID-19, and fully vaccinated 3.39 lakh people.

Maharashtra's Thane Records 51 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
With the addition of 51 new COVID-19 cases, the infection tally in Maharashtra's Thane district has risen to 7,09,992, an official said today.
These new cases were reported on Monday, he said.
The number of deaths due to Covid in the district remained unchanged at 11,895 and the COVID-19 mortality rate stood at 1.67 per cent, he added.
In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count stood at 1,63,612 and the number of deaths at 3,407, another official said.
