Goa, a big draw among tourists, reported 41 cases and zero Covid deaths

India today logged 12,729 cases, which is 1.2 per cent lower than yesterday's numbers (12,885). The country also reported 221 death over the last 24 hours.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 28 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 131 consecutive days now.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.90 per cent. It has been less than two per cent for last 32 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.25 per cent. It has been below two per cent for the last 42 days, according to the ministry.
Kerala continues to lead states in most number of cases in a day. It reported 7,545 cases and 136 Covid deaths in a day.
With 945 Covid cases, neighbouring Tamil Nadu was the second southern state with most number of daily cases. The next highest was Andhra Pradesh with 301, it was followed by Karnataka with 261 cases.
Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar - the five large states - reported zero Covid deaths.
Mizoram with 508 Covid cases reported the most number of cases among the northeastern sates. The small state also reported three Covid deaths.

The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday asked Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir to undertake a review of rising COVID-19 cases and weekly positivity rates, and enhance testing.
This week, the World Health Organization granted Covaxin an Emergency Use Listing, which means the 'made-in-India' vaccine will finally be recognised by other countries and Indians who received the shot need not self-quarantine or face restrictions when travelling abroad.
The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 107.70 crore.
