India logged 13,596 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily rise in the last eight months or 230 days, the Health Ministry's data showed. 166 people have died of Covid in the last 24 hours.

  1. Dr Soumya Swaminathan, World Health Organisation (WHO) chief scientist, on Sunday said the WHO technical advisory group will meet on October 26 to consider approval for India's homegrown Covaxin.

  7. Uttarakhand has given the first shot of Covid vaccine to all adults, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Sunday. A total of 74 lakh people or 100 per cent of the eligible population across the state have been administered with the first dose of the vaccine.

  8. Kerala is still recording the highest number of cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, 7,555 fresh cases were logged.
