India Coronavirus Cases: 276 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.

With 26,041 fresh Covid cases recorded in the last 24 hours, India's daily tally this morning was eight per cent lesser than yesterday. The active cases account for less than 1 per cent of the overall cases, the Health Ministry latest data shows.

Here are the top 10 developments on coronavirus cases in India

  1. In the last 24 hours, India recorded 276 deaths due to Covid. So far, 4,47,194 people have died of coronavirus. Over 3.36 crore people have been affected.

  2. Kerala, where the worrying surge has been a cause of national concern, reported 15,591 cases in the last 24 hours.

  3. Maharashtra, which has allowed all cinema halls and places of worship to open from the next month, reported 3,206 cases.

  4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, in his radio address "Mann Ki Baat", warned against complacency during the festive season. "In this festival we have to remember about one more fight - that is the country's fight against coronavirus. Team India is making new records every day in this fight," said PM Modi, referring to the country's record vaccination on his birthday.

  5. From today, Canada will allow direct flights from India, lifting a ban of more than five months.

  7. The daily positivity rate - the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests conducted - stood at 2.24 per cent this morning. It has been less than 3 per cent for the last 28 days. The weekly positivity rate, which has less than 3 per cent for 94 days, stood at 1.94 per cent this morning.

  8. India has given over 86 crore vaccine doses so far. The government aims to fully vaccinate 108 crore adults by the end of this year.

  9. Chief Justice NV Ramana on Sunday said he hopes the courts will be able to fully reopen soon if there are no more Covid waves.

  10. Worldwide, 23 crore people have been affected due to coronavirus; over 47 lakh people have died.
