With 5,910 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,44,62,445, while the active cases declined to 53,974, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death count climbed to 5,28,007 with 16 fatalities, including seven deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The active cases comprise 0.12 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.69 per cent, the health ministry said.

West Bengal Logs 89 New Covid Cases, 2 Deaths

West Bengal on Monday recorded 89 new COVID-19 cases pushing the tally to 21,07,977, a health department bulletin said.

The COVID-19 death count rose to 21,475 as two more persons succumbed to the disease, it said.

A total of 5,057 samples were tested on the day with a positivity rate of 1.76 per cent, the bulletin said.

The state currently has 2,002 active COVID-19 cases while 20,84,500 people have recovered from the disease, including 255 during the day.

The COVID-19 recovery rate now is 98.89 per cent.

Bengal had reported 181 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Sunday.

A total of 2,63,27,898 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far.

Mumbai Reports 173 COVID-19 Cases, 2 Deaths

Mumbai on Monday reported 173 COVID-19 cases and two fatalities, which took the tally to 11,46,440 and the toll to 19,711, a civic official said.

The recovery count increased by 349 in the last 24 hours to reach 11,23,958, which left the metropolis with 2,771 active cases, he said.

Of the new cases, only 27 were hospitalised, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said.

The recovery rate is 98 per cent, while the overall growth rate of cases between August 29 and September 4 stood at 0.036 per cent.

The case doubling time stood at 1,962 days for Mumbai, as per the BMC data.

Telangana Logs 129 New Covid Cases

Telangana on Monday recorded 129 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 8,35,196 so far.

Hyderabad district reported the most number of cases with 51.

A bulletin said 192 people recuperated from the infection, raising the cumulative number of recoveries to 8,30,032 till date.

The recovery rate stood at 99.38 per cent.

No fresh fatality occurred due to the infection and the death count remained at 4,111.

The bulletin said 10,755 samples were tested today.

The number of active cases were 1,053, the bulletin said.

Chhattisgarh Sees 126 COVID-19 Cases

Chhattisgarh on Monday reported 126 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 1.73 per cent, taking the tally to 11,74,256, while the death count remained unchanged at 14,114, an official said.

The recovery count rose by 27 and touched 11,59,323, leaving the state with 819 active cases, he said.

"Raipur led with 33 cases, followed by 11 in Durg, 10 in Surguja, among other districts. No coronavirus case was reported from six districts," he added.

The overall coronavirus tests conducted in the state was 1,84,89,297, including 7,292 during the day, the official said.

Tamil Nadu Records 463 New Coronavirus Cases

Tamil Nadu on Monday recorded 463 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the caseload to 35,71,030.

The death numbers remained at 38,036 as no fatalities were reported today, according to a bulletin from the State health department.

A total of 35,28,004 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged following treatment so far and this includes 483 who recovered today.

The active cases declined to 4,990 from 5,010 a day ago.

Among the districts, Chennai, Coimbatore and Chengalpattu recorded a maximum of 82, 62 and 26 cases respectively.

Gujarat Reports 113 COVID-19 Cases, 192 Recoveries

Gujarat on Monday reported 113 COVID-19 cases, which took the state's tally to 12,71,178, a health official said.

The death numbers remained unchanged at 11,016, while the recovery count increased by 192 and touched 12,58,819, he added.

The state currently has an active caseload of 1,343, the official said.

Ahmedabad accounted for 28 of the new cases, followed by 36 in Surat, 21 in Vadodara, among other districts, he added.

With 97,790 people getting vaccinated on Monday, the total number of doses administered in the state so far rose to 12.41 crore, a government release informed.

Jammu and Kashmir Logs 34 New Covid Cases

Jammu and Kashmir registered 34 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the infection tally in the union territory to 4,78,357 while no fresh death due to the Coronavirus was reported, officials said here.

Nine corona cases were reported from Jammu division and 25 cases were reported from Kashmir valley, they said.

The death count due to the virus was 4,783 as no fresh death was reported from the union territory, the officials said.

There are 793 active cases of the disease in the union territory, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,72,781, they said.

The officials said there were 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the UT.

Madhya Pradesh Sees 35 COVID-19 Cases, 41 Recoveries

The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,53,673 on Monday after the detection of 35 cases at a positivity rate of 0.5 per cent, a health official said.

The death count remained unchanged at 10,770, he added.

The recovery count increased by 41 to touch 10,42,620, leaving the state with 283 active cases, the official informed.

With 5,932 samples examined during the day, the number of coronavirus tests in Madhya Pradesh went up to 2,99,30,391, he added.

A government release said 12,88,93,833 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state, including 55,224 on Monday.

Puducherry Reports New COVID-19 Cases In Single Digit

Puducherry witnessed a sharp fall in number of daily coronavirus cases on Monday with only nine people testing positive for the disease.

The overall caseload stood at 1,73.032.

Puducherry accounted for four new cases out of the nine, while Karaikal recorded five. Mahe and Yanam regions did not report any new case during last twenty-four hours, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.

He said the active cases were 227 which comprised nine patients undergoing treatment in hospitals while the remaining 218 patients in home quarantine.

Mr Sriramulu said 47 patients recovered during last twenty-four hours while the overall recoveries were 1,70,836.

No fatality was reported from any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and toll remained 1,969.

The Director noted that the test positivity rate was 11.54 percent while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.14 percent and 98.73 percent respectively.

The Department has administered so far 20,97,838 doses which comprised 9,89,606 first doses, 8,20,107 second doses and 2,88,125 booster shots.

Nashik Records 20 New C ovid Cases, Active Tally At 171

Maharashtra's Nashik district on Monday recorded 20 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 4,81,622, an official said.

The death count remained unchanged at 8,904, and the count of recoveries reached 4,72,547 after 33 patients recovered from the disease, he said.

The district is now left with 171 active cases, the official said.

As per official data, 2,75,805 cases have been reported from Nashik city so far, 1,79,353 from other parts of the district, 14,027 from Malegaon and 8,521 from outside the district.

Odisha Logs 179 New COVID-19 Cases, 1 Fatality

Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,28,644 on Monday as 179 more people, including 30 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

The death count rose to 9,181 as a 57-year-old man succumbed to the disease in Bhadrak district. 53 other patients have died due to comorbidities so far, it said.

Odisha had recorded 221 infections and 1 fatality on Sunday.

The state now has 1,723 active cases, while 195 more people have recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 13,17,687.

Tamil Nadu sees 470 new COVID-19 cases

Tamil Nadu on Sunday registered 470 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the aggregate to 35,70,567 while the toll remained unchanged at 38,036. As many as 494 people recovered in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 35,27,521 leaving 5,010 active cases, a medical bulletin said here.

Chennai and Coimbatore continued to witness marginal increase in daily cases with 84 infections (against 82 on Saturday), Coimbatore 64 while the remaining were scattered across other districts.

228 new COVID-19 cases in Thane
Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 228 new COVID-19 cases, raising its infection count to 7,42,801, a health official said on Monday. With the addition of the latest numbers on Sunday, the district currently has 1,850 active COVID-19 cases, he said.

No COVID-19 fatality was reported in Thane on Sunday and the death toll stood at 11,946.

The recovery count has reached 7,29,650, the official said.

Tamil Nadu Vaccinates 12.28 Lakh People Against COVID-19 In Mega Drive

Tamil Nadu on Sunday vaccinated 12.28 lakh people against COVID-19 in the 35th mega vaccination exercise held in the state.

A total of 78,337 people received the first dose, 2,91,028 the second jab, while 8,59,628 got the precautionary booster dose, a release said.

The total number of people who were vaccinated above the age of 18 years with the first dose comprises 96.39 per cent and the second dose 90.61 per cent.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma Subramanian, Principal Health Secretary P Senthil Kumar, inspected the vaccination camps in Chennai along with the Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor Priya Ranjan among others.

The department commenced the mass vaccination programme beginning September 12, 2021 which has been held in over 50,000 camps including primary health centres, government schools, anganwadi centres among others.
