India added 46,164 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours - a 22 per cent jump - while deaths from COVID-19 rose by 607. The country's overall case load now stands at 3.25 crore, while total fatalities are at 4.36 lakhs, according to the health ministry.
The daily positivity rate remains less than 3 per cent for the last 31 days and is presently at 2.58 per cent. Active cases constitute 1.03% of total cases, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands 97.63 per cent, the Union Health Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid cases in Kerala jumped nearly 30 per cent over the past 24 hours to over 31,000 as the state government flagged an 'Onam spike'. The state recorded 215 deaths along with a test positivity rate of 19.03 per cent.
The state on Wednesday reported 31,445 fresh cases, pushing its total infection count to 38,83,429 and fatalities to 19,972.
