New Delhi: India reported 43,071 new cases of coronavirus and 955 related deaths on Sunday, according to the latest health ministry update. This increased the country's cumulative tally to 3,05,45,433 and 4,02,005 fatalities. The active caseload has declined to 4,85,350 while recovery rate increased to 97.09%. Over 52,000 patients recovered during the last 24 hours as the daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 52nd consecutive day, the ministry said.
A day earlier, 44,111 new cases were reported, besides 738 deaths. India crossed a grim milestone of 4 lakh Covid deaths on Friday - the third after US and Brazil.

Assam records 1,213 new Covid cases and 20 deaths
Assam's Covid tally rose to 5,17,194 on Sunday as 1,213 more people tested positive for the infection. Twenty deaths over the past 24 hours took the state's death count to 4,652, a health bulletin said. Kamrup Metropolitan district, where capital Dispur and major city Guwahati are located, registered the highest number of new cases at 140. The state currently has 22,155 active cases.

Minister visits Covid vaccine manufacturing units in Gujarat
Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday visited the Covid vaccine manufacturing facilities of Zydus Cadila and Hester Biosciences in Gujarat. "Visited Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad today. @ZydusUniverse is the developer of the ''ZyCov-D'' which will be the world's first DNA-based Covid-19 vaccine," he tweeted. In another tweet, the minister said that he assured all government assistance to vaccine manufacturing company Hester Sciences for the production of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.

Tamil Nadu records 3,867 Covid cases and 72 deaths
Tamil Nadu recorded 3,867 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 24.96 lakh. 72 deaths in the last 24 hours took the death count to 33,006. According to a medical bulletin, 4,382 people were discharged today, taking the total recoveries to 24,27,988. The number of active cases in the state stands at 35,294.

Over 1 crore people in Odisha have received Covid jab
Odisha on Sunday achieved a milestone by inoculating over 1 crore people, out of the state's 4.5 crore population, with at least one dose of Covid vaccine, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family WelfarePK Mohapatra said. According to information available in the CoWIN portal, as many as 1,00,06,081 people in the state have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 22,10,303 received both doses. Fully vaccinated tourists can now visit Sikkim
People who have taken both doses of coronavirus vaccine can now visit Sikkim from July 5. The state government on Sunday lifted the temporary ban on the entry of visitors from other parts of the country following a dip in fresh coronavirus cases, news agency PTI reported. The Sikkim government had prohibited the entry of tourists since March this year following a surge in Covid cases.

Ladakh Records Nearly 98% COVID-19 Recovery Rate, 14 New Cases
Ladakh reported 14 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday while no related deaths were reported in the union territory for the 4th straight day. The total number of active cases in Ladakh stood at 244. The union territory has registered 202 Covid-related deaths so far with the worst-hit Leh accounting for 144 fatalities followed by 58 in Kargil district. Leh district recorded recovery of 16,253 persons out of the total 16,607 Covid patients, while 3,416 people were cured out of the total 3,508 in Kargil district.

Russia Records 25,142 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Russia registered 25,142 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 5,610,941 on Sunday. Moscow registered the highest number of new cases in this period -- 7,624, the Moscow region had second highest number with 2,696, St, Petersburg third highest with 1,784. 663 related deaths were recorded across the country in the same period, 111 of them in Moscow while 15,484 people were discharged from hospital in Russia with full recovery.
