Covid-19 Cases in India: The recovery rate is 97.62 per cent.

New Delhi:

India logged 27,176 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to ,33,16,755, while the active cases declined to 3,51,087, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The number of deaths climbed to 4,43,497 with 284 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The active cases comprise 1.05 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.62 per cent, the ministry said.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.

Assam government issues guidelines for festival season
The Assam government on Wednesday said organisers and volunteers of all puja committees must be inoculated with at least the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and preferably with the second jab.

Addressing a press conference, state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said as the vaccination drive has gained momentum, and vaccines are available in every district and health block, no excuse will be accepted.

"The fresh set of guidelines is for the coming Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja and Diwali festivals. Steps are being taken to ensure that people are able to observe the festivals while controlling the COVID-19 spread at the same time," he said.

The vaccination certificate of all puja committee members and those involved in organising the festival has to be submitted with the application for acquiring permission for puja celebration, Mahanta said.

Bengal logs 743 fresh COVID-19 cases, 14 more fatalities
West Bengal reported 14 fresh CIVID-19 fatalities on Wednesday, raising the toll to 18,613, while the coronavirus tally mounted to 15,58,860 with 743 single-day cases, a health department bulletin said on Wednesday.

The state now has 8,050 active cases and 15,32,197 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 753 since Tuesday, it said.

Punjab reports 44 new Covid cases
Punjab on Wednesday reported 44 fresh cases of coronavirus that took the infection tally to 6,01,150, according to a medical bulletin.

With no fatality reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll remained 16,464.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, Pathankot and Mohali reported six cases each, followed by five in Jalandhar.

The active cases were 325.

Nagaland government announces phase 6 of unlocking from Sep 17 to 30
Nagaland government has decided to extend the ongoing process of unlocking with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic by two more weeks till September 30 with more relaxations, including opening of school from classes five to ten, officials said.

Nagaland government has been announcing the unlocking process in a phased manner since July 1 and the current Unlock phase five will end on Thursday, they said.

Over 80 per cent of eligible population received first dose of COVID vaccine: Kerala Chief Minister
Over 80 per cent of the population which is eligible for vaccination in the state has been administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said today.

The Chief Minister, at a press conference, said that over 32 per cent of the population eligible for vaccination have received both jabs of the vaccine.

He said the state government's endeavour was to ensure that all those above 18 years of age are administered the first dose of vaccine by the end of September and both doses in 2-3 months time.

Mumbai's daily COVID-19 case count goes above 500 for second time in September, says official
Mumbai reported 514 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths today, taking the caseload to 7,36,284 and total deaths to 16,037, a civic official said. 

This is after a gap of a week that the daily COVID-19 case count has once again surged over 500 in the country's financial capital. Earlier on September 8, the city had witnessed 530 new infections after more than 48,000 COVID-19 cases.

Revenue collection in 2021-22 less than estimates by 23 per cent due to COVID-19, says Manish Sisodia
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said the city government has earned 23 per cent less revenue than estimates in the current financial year, 2021-22, because of closure of economic activities due to coronavirus and lockdown. 

The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government received 41 per cent less revenue than estimates last year (2020-21) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown, economic activities are less, therefore tax collection is low.

Telangana records 324 new COVID-19 cases, one death in last 24 hours
Telangana today logged 324 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 6,62,526, while the deaths rose to 3,899 with one new death.

280 people recuperated from the infectious disease today. The cumulative number of recoveries till date is 6,53,302.

The number of active cases is 5,325.

Karnataka logs 1,116 new cases, 8 deaths in last 24 hours
Karnataka today recorded 1,116 new cases of COVID-19, and 8 deaths, taking the total number of infections to 29,64,083 and the death count to 37,537, the health department said.

The total number of active cases is at 15,892.

Andhra Pradesh reported 1,445 fresh cases of coronavirus, 1,243 recoveries and 11 deaths in 24 hours as of 9 am on Wednesday.

The number of active cases now stand at 14,603, a health department bulletin said. The state COVID-19 chart showed a gross of 20,33,419 positives, 20,04,786 recoveries and 14,030 deaths.

Russian Sputnik V vaccine shows 97.2 per cent efficacy, high safety against COVID-19 in Belarus
The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on Wednesday confirmed the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine's high efficacy during the vaccination campaign in the country.

An official release stated that the Russian vaccine has demonstrated 97.2 per cent efficacy against coronavirus in Belarus. The efficacy of Sputnik V was measured based on data from more than 860,000 people vaccinated between January and July 2021.

The data from the Ministry of Health also confirms high safety of Sputnik V, "No severe adverse events associated with vaccination. No deaths related to the vaccination. Belarus was the first foreign country to register Sputnik V and use it for vaccination of the population."

Delhi's Latest Guidelines Amid Covid: See What's Allowed
Marriage parties with only 100 people and theatres at 50 per cent capacity are allowed in Delhi but no social, political and cultural congregations will be permitted, according to the latest guidelines by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

Delhi Metro will continue to operate at 100 per cent capacity, however, no standing passenger will be allowed.

Schools for students up to Class 8th in Delhi will remain closed till September 30, while schools for students from Class 9th and above will be allowed to function at 50 per cent capacity.

Restaurants and bars have already been allowed to open at 50 per cent capacity with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

India administers over 61 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses in last 24 hours

With the administration of 61,15,690 doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the last 24 hours, the country's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 75.89 crores, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, 75,89,12,277 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across the country so far through 76,68,216 sessions.

Of the total, 1,03,65,064 health care workers have received the first dose and 86,27,893 doses have been administered as the second dose to them.

As many as 1,83,39,480 frontline workers were administered the first dose and 1,41,57,234 vaccine doses were given as the second dose to them.

" 30,62,20,932 vaccine doses were administered as the first dose and 4,70,46,927 vaccine doses were given as the second dose in the age group 18-44 years," the ministry said.
