India's Covid chart showed improvement today, with the country recording 33,376 cases, a drop of 4.5 per cent from yesterday. About 308 deaths were recorded during the period, according to the Health Ministry.
Active cases constitute 1.18 per cent of total cases, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands 97.49 per cent per cent, the Union Health Ministry said. The daily positivity rate now stands at 2.10 per cent.
Kerala added 25,010 cases and 177 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 43,34,704 and the number of deaths to 22,303. The positivity rate rose to 16.53 per cent on Wednesday after testing 1,51,317 samples in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra's case recovery rate stands at 97.05 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting on the coronavirus situation and vaccination as the Centre noted high caseloads in states like Kerala and Maharashtra to say that there can be no room for complacency.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said a special drive will be launched to vaccinate students aged above 18 years on priority to enable educational institutions to reopen in the Union Territory.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at SKICC in Srinagar, Mr Sinha said most of the teachers have already been vaccinated against Covid.
"We are trying to vaccinate students aged above 18 years on priority and professors and teachers in the academic institutions as well because the aim is to restart the institutions," he said.
