Coronavirus Updates: Amitabh Bachchan tweeted he has been hospitalised with COVID-19

Coronavirus Live Updates: Actor Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday said he has tested positive for coronavirus and has been taken to a hospital. Test results of his family and staff are awaited, the 77-year-old tweeted.

"I have tested CoviD positive ..  shifted to Hospital  .. hospital informing  authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !t," he wrote.

India's COVID-19 tally touched 8,20,916 with the biggest single-day increase of 27,114, the latest data from the Union Health Ministry shows. The country also witnessed 519 deaths during the period, taking the total number of death count to 22,123.  India's COVID-19 tally crossed the eight-lakh-mark on Friday, just four days after the number of infections in the country had reached seven lakh.

Eight states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka and Telangana, account for around 90 per cent of the active COVID-19 cases in the country and 80 per cent of the active cases have been reported from 49 districts, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19 was informed on Thursday.

India is the country with the third-highest coronavirus caseload in the world after the United States and Brazil.

Assam reports 535 new COVID-19 cases, 410 from Guwahati alone

Assam on Saturday reported 535 new COVID-19 cases out of which 410 were from capital Guwahati alone, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

"A total of 535 new COVID positive cases have been reported cases in Assam on July 11 of which 410 are from Guwahati. The total number of cases now at 16,071 including 5,607 active cases, 10,426 discharged cases and 35 deaths," said Mr Sarma.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday the state health minister said the recovery in the state was 63.39 per cent. 

The 14-day lockdown in Kamrup Metropolitan district has been extended another week till July 19. It was earlier scheduled to end on Sunday.

The State Health Department will allow home quarantine to non-symptomatic COVID-19 patients only if they sign an undertaking agreeing to certain conditions under the government guidelines, Sarma said.

Active COVID-19 Cases Lowest In Delhi In 31 Days; Government Says Sharp Decline In Daily Deaths For 2 Weeks

The active cases of coronavirus reported on Saturday in the national capital were the lowest in the last 31 days, Delhi's health department data shows, while not a single coronavirus patient under home isolation in the city has died in July and there has been a "sharp decline" in daily fatality figures in the past two weeks, a government study on COVID-19 deaths has said.

According to the state health department's bulletin, 1,781 fresh cases of the viral disease were reported, taking the total coronavirus count in the city to 1,10,921. Since June 27, the fresh cases'' figures have remained in the range of 1,000-2,000.

The bulletin said there were 19,895 active cases - the lowest since June 11. According to the data, on June 10 there were 19,581 active cases in the city. Since then Delhi has seen a sharp rise in daily cases, pushing the active cases to nearly 28,000 (June 27 reported 28,329 total active cases).

It is for the first time since June 11 that the total number of active cases has gone below 20,000. Thirty-four fresh fatalities were reported, taking the death toll in the capital to 3,344, as per Saturday''s bulletin.

The current recovery rate of coronavirus cases is a little over 79 per cent, according to the data.

Chhattisgarh reports 65 new COVID-19 cases

Chhattisgarh reported 65 new COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday, taking the total number of positive cases to 3,897, said state Health Department in a bulletin.

As per the bulletin, there are 810 active COVID-19 cases in the state and 3,070 people have been discharged after treatment.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in Chhattisgarh stands at 17.

A total of 20,4,932 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, according to the bulletin.

Of the new cases, Raipur had 36, Balodabazar had 24, Bastar had 9, Bilaspur had 6, Koriya had 4. Surguja and Durg had 3 cases each and Korba and Narayanpur had two cases each while Kanker and Dhamtari had one case each.

Punjabi singer charged for violating COVID-19 guidelines

Punjabi singer Gurnam Bhullar and forty-three other people were booked for conducting a video shoot in violation of the administration's COVID-19 guidelines on Saturday, a statement said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Patiala Police raided a mall in Rajpura and found that the video shoot was in progress in complete violation of the COVID-19 guidelines, it said.

They could not produce any permission for the shooting and "most of them were not following norms and directions issued by the government in view of COVID-19 pandemic," police said in the statement.

People going out of Rajasthan will have to obtain passes: Order

People going out of Rajasthan will have to obtain passes from authorities, the state government said in an order on Saturday night as it decided to regulate inter-state movement in view of a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The passes will be issued by district collectors, police commissioners, deputy commissioners, sub-divisional magistrates, deputy superintendents of police and local police stations, the home department order said.

In addition, a counter shall be set up by district administrations at airports, railway stations and bus stands to provide on spot passes after verification of identity, it said.

For those travelling outside the state by road, other than scheduled buses, screening and verification of passes and identity will be ensured at check posts, which will be set up at inter-state borders, the order said.

COVID-19: Jharkhand reports one more death, 145 fresh cases

Another person succumbed to COVID-19 in Jharkhand on Saturday, taking the death toll due to the disease to 24 in the state, a government bulletin said.

The state also reported 145 fresh coronavirus cases, raising Jharkhand''s tally to 3,663, it said. The dead person was from Giridih district.

Thirty-two patients recovered from the disease on Saturday. The state now has 1,383 active cases while 2,256 people have been cured of COVID-19, the health department said.

574 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths in Rajasthan

There were six more novel coronavirus deaths and 574 new cases in Rajasthan on Saturday, taking the number of fatalities to 503 and tally to 23,748, the Health Department said.

Jaipur registered two more COVID-19 deaths, while there was a fatality each in Ajmer, Hanumangarh, Kota and Udaipur district, it said.

Out of the 574 new infections, 105 were from Bikaner, followed by 81 in Jodhpur and 53 in Jaipur, the department said.

As many as 17,869 patients have recovered and there are 5,376 active cases at present, it said.

Alwar and Jalore registered 45 more cases each, followed by 36 in Udaipur, 30 in Barmer, 28 in Nagaur and 24 in Bharatpur.

Bihar records seven more COVID-19 deaths, 709 fresh cases
Bihar's COVID-19 count climbed to 118 on Saturday as seven more people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, while the number of cases rose to 15,039 with 709 fresh infections, the health department said.

The fatalities were reported from Bhagalpur (two) and Patna, Bhojpur, West Champaran, Darbhanga districts (one each). Saharsa district reported its first death, the health department said in its daily COVID-19 bulletin.

Details of the patients like age, gender and whether they had comorbidities were not immediately known.

At 13, Patna has reported the maximum number of deaths in the state so far, followed by 10 in Bhagalpur, eight in Darbhanga, seven in Samastipur, six each in Rohtas and East Champaran, and five each in Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Saran and Siwan.

Lockdown in Assam's Kamrup metropolitan district extended till July 19
The ongoing lockdown in Kamrup Metropolitan district, under which Guwahati city falls, has been further extended for a week from July 12 due to large scale spread of COVID-19 cases, Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said on Saturday.

The 14-day lockdown in the district was scheduled to end at 6 pm on Sunday but the district magistrate has reported that there is continuing large-scale spread of COVID-19 occurring in almost the entire district which may be a major threat to public health, hygiene and safety of the general population, he said.

"Due to extensive testing, isolation and other restrictive measures, community spread of COVID-19 has been contained to some extent and this necessitates further extension of prohibitory measures to contain the spread of the pandemic," he stated.

The order will come into effect from 6 pm on Sunday and will remain in force till July 19.

UP government caps COVID-19 treatment cost in private hospitals
Private super speciality hospitals across Noida and Greater Noida can charge no more than Rs 10,000 per day for isolation beds, Rs 15,000 for ICU and Rs 18,000 for ICU with ventilator care for COVID-19 treatment, an official order said on Saturday.

These charges are for National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers-accredited private facilities and include the cost of personal protective equipment (PPEs), the order issued by the Uttar Pradesh government stated.

For private hospitals that are not NABH-accredited, the charges have been capped at Rs 8,000 for isolation beds, Rs 13,000 for intensive care units (ICU) and Rs 15,000 for ICU with ventilator (invasive or non-invasive).

COVID-19: Delhi minister takes stock of preventive arrangements for children in care homes
Delhi''s Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Saturday took stock of the preventive arrangements being made for children residing in care homes in city''s Alipur area in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

The minister visited the Phulbari Bal Griha and Ashiana Bal Griha and reviewed the implementation of the guidelines issued by the Delhi government regarding COVID-19.

Special emphasis is being given on the cleanliness in these child care complexes. The body temperature of every person coming from outside is measured and a sanitation machine is also installed at the entrance, Mr Gautam was told by officials.
