New Delhi:

India recorded its lowest daily Covid cases in 250 days on Tuesday with the country reporting 10,423 cases, which was also 16 per cent lower than the previous day. The country, however, witnessed 443 virus-related deaths during the period.

At least 15,021 people have recovered in 24 hours. The total number of people who have recovered is 3,36,83,581.

Active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, currently at 0.45 per cent.

The active caseload stands at 1,53,776, which is the lowest in 250 days. The weekly positivity rate of 1.16 per cent is less than two per cent for last 39 days.

Daily positivity rate of 1.03 per cent is less than two per cent for the last 29 days.

Coronavirus News: Assam Reports 270 Cases, 7 Fatalities In 24 Hours
The coronavirus death count in Assam rose by seven for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, while the number of fresh infections marginally reduced to 270 taking the overall caseload to 6,11,211, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said, reported news agency PTI.

The number of new cases declined by 26 from 296 on Monday.

The day's positivity rate was 0.75%, registering a slight increase from 0.70% the previous day. The positivity rate had reached 1.41% on Sunday.

Mizoram Reports 830 Covid Cases In 24 Hours
Mizoram on Tuesday reported 830 Covid cases, the highest single-day spike in nearly two weeks, taking the northeast state's tally to 1,22,354, a health department official said, reported news agency PTI. The state had reported 165 COVID-19 cases on Monday. The death count rose to 435 as two more patients died, he said.

Coronavirus News: Sikkim Logs 10 New Cases, One Related Fatality In 24 Hours
 Sikkim's COVID-19 tally rose to 31,994 as 10 more people tested positive for the virus while one fatality pushed the coronavirus death count to 397, a health department bulletin said, reported news agency PTI.

The Himalayan state had reported five cases on Monday and 22 on Sunday. Of the 10 new COVID-19 cases, East Sikkim district registered eight cases and West Sikkim two cases.

Maharashtra Organises Covid Vaccination Camp For Transgenders
Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday inaugurated a Covid vaccination camp for transgenders at the Government Women Hospital in Jalna, reported news agency PTI.

This was the second such camp being organised in the state, the first one being in Mumbai, he said, adidng, transgenders should not be discriminated against and that the state government has been ensuring that its health services are inclusive.

Coronavirus News: Nagaland Reports 9 Covid Cases, One Death In 24 Hours
Nagaland reported nine new Covid cases on Tuesday, eight less than the previous day, pushing the coronavirus tally to 31,868, a health department official said, reported PTI.

Of the nine new cases, four were reported in Kohima district, three from Dimapur and two from Wokha district.

The Covid death count rose to 686 with one death, he said.

Coronavirus News: 6,444 Cases In 24 Hours, 187 Related Deaths In Kerala
Kerala recorded 6,444 cases of coronavirus and 187 related deaths in 24 hours, raising the overall caseload to 49,80,398 and the fatalities count to 32,236, the state government said, reported news agency PTI.

With 8,424 patients recovering from the virus since Monday, the total recoveries touched 48,72,930 and the active cases reached 74,618, an official press release said.

Of the 187 deaths, 45 were reported over the last few days, 87 were those which were not confirmed until June 18 last year due to lack of adequate documentation and 55 were designated as Covid deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and Supreme Court directions, the release said.

Coronavirus News: Brazil Registers Lowest Number Of Covid Deaths Since April 2020
Brazil registered on October 31 the lowest daily average of deaths from COVID-19 practically since the disease was detected in the country in February 2020, the Brazilian scientific institution Oswaldo Cruz Foundation said, reported news agency ANI.

According to the official "Monitora COVID-19" platform, Brazil registered 311.43 deaths in the moving average of the last seven days of October. It is the lowest figure since April 28, 2020, when the death toll reached an average of 325.14.

Coronavirus News: Delhi Logs 34 Cases, Zero Related Deaths In A Day
Delhi reported 34 cases of Covid and zero deaths in 24 hours, the positivity rate stood at 0.07%, according to data shared by the health department, reported news agency PTI.

Delhi recorded only four deaths due to the viral infection in October, while five people died in September.

With the new cases, the coronavirus infection tally in the city climbed to 14,39,922. Of this, over 14.14 lakh patients have recovered from the disease. The death count stands at 25,091.

Coronavirus News: 9 New Cases, No Related Deaths Reported In Ladakh
Ladakh recorded nine cases of coronavirus today, raising its overall tally to 20,971, while the number of active cases in the Union Territory reached 76, officials said, reported news agency PTI.

Ladakh has registered 207 related deaths - 149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil - since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. No new fatality was reported in Ladakh in the last 24 hours.

The recovery count remained unchanged at 20,687 as no new coronavirus patient was discharged from hospitals, they said.

Maharashtra Covid update: 18 children orphaned due to COVID-19 in Raigad get Rs 5 lakh in FD
At least 18 children, who lost a parent to COVID-19, received certificates of fixed deposits of Rs 5 lakh each in Maharashtra''s Raigad district, an official said.

District Guardian Minister Aditi Tatkare distributed the certificates to relatives of such children at a function held in Pali on Monday, the official said.

The affected children will get 1 per cent reservation in government jobs when they reach adulthood, while relatives will get Rs 1,100 per month as financial assistance from the state government for the care, he added.

Coronavirus updates: Pakistan reports 457 new COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths
Pakistan reported 457 new COVID-19 cases and 10 more deaths during the last twenty-four hours, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said, reported international media.

The NCOC, the department leading the campaign against the pandemic, said that the country has conducted 20,879,087 tests so far confirming overall 1,274,017 COVID cases, including 1,222,987 recoveries, Xinhua News reported. There are 22,564 active cases that are under treatment across the country, including 1,234 in critical condition, it added.

According to the NCOC, the pandemic claimed the lives of 10 people on Monday, taking the overall death toll to 28,466.

Japan eases COVID-19 border curbs
Japan confirmed on Tuesday plans to gradually ease COVID-19 border curbs, but fell short of demands by business lobbies to open up in line with major trading partners. In relaxing its controls, Japan will take a phased approach, chief cabinet secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters, responding to media reports that quarantine periods for business travellers would be cut to three days from 10. 

The easing could start next Monday, while daily limits on the numbers of border entrants would be raised to 5,000 people later this month from 3,500, national broadcaster NHK said. Domestic and foreign business groups have lobbied the government to ease border curbs to match other nations.

Turkey reports 28,678 daily COVID-19 cases
Turkey confirmed 28,678 new COVID-19 cases, raising its total tally of infections to 8,061,666, according to its health ministry. The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 217 to 70,828, while 29,296 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

A total of 356,643 tests were conducted over the past day, it said. Turkey started mass COVID-19 vaccination on Jan. 14 after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.
