India's COVID-19 case tally rose by 18,257 in a day to reach 4,36,22,651, while the number of active cases increased to 1,28,690, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.
The death count has climbed to 5,25,428 with 42 more people succumbing to the viral disease.
The active cases comprise 0.30 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.50 per cent, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was 4.14 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.09 per cent, according to the health ministry.

Maharashtra on Sunday reported 2,591 new coronavirus positive cases, but did not record any death linked to the infection, the state health department said.
With the addition in cases, the overall tally rose to 80,04,024, while the death toll stood at 1,47,976.
A total of 2,894 patients recuperated during the day, raising the recovery count to 78,37,679.
Chhattisgarh on Sunday reported 110 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 3.78 per cent, taking the tally to 11,56,159, while the death toll remained unchanged at 14,043, an official said.
So far, 11,40,650 persons have recovered from the infection, including 99 during the day, leaving the state with 1,466 active cases, he said.
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,45,532 on Sunday after the detection of 130 cases, while the death toll remained unchanged at 10,745, a health official said.
The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, was 1.9 per cent, he added.
The recovery count increased by 111 to touch 10,33,980, leaving the state with 807 active cases, the official informed.
Delhi on Sunday recorded 433 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.96 per cent and two more deaths, according to health department data.
This is the fourth consecutive day when the daily case count has remained below 600.
With the fresh infections and fatalities, Delhi's COVID-19 caseload climbed to 19,40,735 and the death toll increased to 26,284, the health department bulletin said.
West Bengal reported 2,962 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday at a positivity rate of 17.36 per cent, as per the Health Department.
Four more patients died, taking the toll to 21,243, it said.
There are 23,264 active cases in the state at present, and all of these patients have symptoms. Of them, 508 patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals.
Karnataka on Sunday reported 942 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total infections to 39,79,021, the State Health Department said.
The department in its daily COVID-19 bulletin said 737 people were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 39,32,000 till date. Active cases stood at 6,898.
Of the total infections, Bengaluru urban district contributed 831 while there were 30 cases in Mysuru, 13 in Dakshina Kannada, 11 each in Belagavi and Kolar and 10 in Udupi.
Telangana on Sunday recorded 459 new COVID-19 cases taking the total tally in the state to 8,06,124, a health department bulletin said.
No fresh fatality occurred due to the infection and the death count continued to be 4,111, it said.
Hyderabad accounted for the highest number of 323 cases followed by 40 in Ranga Reddy district and 29 in Medchal Malkajgiri district.
Himachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally climbed to 2,87,535 on Sunday with 71 fresh cases, while the death toll increased to 4,124 as one more person succumbed to the viral disease, officials said.
The fresh cases came out of 655 samples that were tested, they said.
The latest death was reported from Kangra district, according to the officials.
Nagaland on Sunday recorded three new COVID-19 cases, one more than the previous day, pushing the tally to 35,546, a health department official said.
Mokokchung district reported two fresh cases and Dimapur one, he said.
The state now has 35 active COVID-19 cases, while 33,255 people have recovered from the disease and 1,494 have migrated to other states, the official said.

The national capital on Saturday reported 544 fresh COVID-19 cases with two fatalities, the Delhi Health Department informed.
With the fresh infections and fatalities, Delhi's caseload moved up to 19,40,302 and the death toll increased to 26,282, the health department bulletin said.
The fresh cases came out of 16,158 COVID-19 tests conducted the previous day, it said. Further, 607 recoveries were recorded today.
