New Delhi: India reported 2,897 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,10,586, while the active cases dipped to 19,494, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated.
The death count climbed to 5,24,157 with 54 fresh fatalities, the data stated today.
The active cases comprise 0.05 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.
A decrease of 143 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.95 per cent and the weekly positivity rate as 0.82 per cent, according to the ministry.

Odisha Records 17 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Odisha recorded 17 more coronavirus cases today, while there was no new fatality for the eight successive day, the health department said.
There are 131 active COVID-19 cases and 52 more patients have recuperated from the disease, according to a bulletin.
The daily positivity rate was 0.11 per cent and a child was among the newly infected, it said, adding that 15,103 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, the bulletin stated.
The state had logged 12 infections and zero death on Tuesday.
The count stood at 9,126 and these are confirmed as Covid deaths after an audit. Fifty-three other coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities so far, according to data.
The tally rose to 12,88,239, including 12,78,929 recoveries, it added.

Maharashtra's Thane Logs 26 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 26 new cases of coronavirus, taking its infection tally to 7,09,250, an official said today.
These new cases were recorded on Tuesday, he said.
The number of deaths remained unchanged at 11,894, he said, adding the COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane stood at 1.67 per cent.
In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count stood at 1,63,612 and the number of deaths at 3,407, another official said.

Mizoram Records 33 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Mizoram today reported 33 fresh COVID-19 cases, eight more than the previous day, taking the state's tally to 2,27,794, a health department official said.
The COVID-19 death count remained at 697 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, the official said.
The single-day positivity rate increased to 7.73 per cent from 5.48 per cent the previous day as the fresh cases were detected from 427 samples tested on Tuesday.
Mizoram currently has 200 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,26,897 people have recovered from the infection so far, including 34 on Tuesday.
The COVID-19 recovery rate now is 99.60 per cent and the death rate is 0.30 per cent.
According to state Immunisation officer Lalmuanawma Jongte, over 8.51 lakh people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine till Tuesday.
