India COVID-19 Highlights: India Records 2,858 New Covid Cases In 24 Hours.

New Delhi:

India recorded 2,858 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 4,31,19,112. According to the Health Ministry data, the active cases dipped to 18,096 today.

The number of Covid-related deaths climbed to 5,24,201 with 11 new fatalities today, the data stated.

The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 508 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.95 per cent and the weekly positivity rate as 0.82 per cent, according to the ministry.

Chhattisgarh sees one COVID-19 case, no death; active tally stands at 28
Chhattisgarh on Saturday recorded one COVID-19 case, taking the tally to 11,52,334, while the death count remained unchanged at 14,034, an official said.

The one case, at a positivity rate of 0.04 per cent, was reported in Raipur, while19 districts have no coronavirus case as on Saturday, he said.

The recovery count increased by one to touch 11,38,272, leaving the state with 28 active cases, the official said.

With 2,675 samples examined during the day, the tally of tests carried out so far in Chhattisgarh went up to 1,76,90,744, he added.

J&K records 8 Covid cases in a day
Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded eight fresh Covid infections, taking the tally of cases to 4,54,139 while no death was reported in a day, officials said.

All the fresh cases were reported from the Jammu division of the Union Territory, they said. Nineteen of the total 20 districts in the Union territory did not report any fresh cases.

Jammu and Kashmir currently has 58 active cases while 4,49,330 people have recuperated from the viral disease so far.

The death toll due to Covid stood at 4,751.

Nagaland reports one new Coronavirus case
Nagaland on Saturday reported one fresh COVID-19 case, pushing the tally to 35,493, a health department official said.

The new case was detected in Dimapur district.

The COVID-19 death count remained at 760 as no fresh fatality was reported, the official said.

Nagaland now has two active COVID-19 cases, while 33,245 people have recovered from the disease and 1,486 patients have migrated to other states, he said.

Covid: 673 fresh cases, 4 more deaths in Delhi
Delhi on Saturday recorded 673 new Covid cases and four more deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 2.77 per cent, according to data shared by the health department here.

The city on Friday had also reported four deaths, the highest single-day fatality count in over two months.

Delhi had logged three Covid deaths on March 7 and four fatalities due to the disease on March 4.

The city on Friday had recorded 899 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.34 per cent.

On Thursday, Delhi had recorded 1,032 fresh COVID-19 cases and zero death, while the positivity rate was 3.64 percent.

With 673 fresh cases reported on Saturday, the national capital's overall Covid tally increased to 18,99,745 while the death toll mounted to 26,192.

Madhya Pradesh sees 36 COVID-19 cases, 24 recoveries; active tally now 244
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,41,903 on Saturday after the detection of 36 cases, while the death count remained unchanged at 10,735, an official said.

The positivity rate remained at 0.4 per cent for the second consecutive day, while the recovery count increased by 24 to touch 10,30,924, leaving the state with 244 active cases, the official informed.

With 8,014 samples examined during the day, the number of tests in MP went up to 2,91,85,478, he added.

A government release said 11,82,85,938 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state, including 36,025 on Saturday.

Gujarat logs 31 fresh COVID-19 cases; active tally at 218
Gujarat on Saturday recorded 31 new cases of COVID-19 that raised the tally of infections to 12,24,688, an official from the state health department said.

While the count remained steady at 10,944 with no fresh casualties, the count of recoveries reached 12,13,526 after 24 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, the official said.

With this, the number of active cases has reached 218, of which two patients are on ventilator support, he said.

District-wise, Ahmedabad reported 20 new cases, followed by Vadodara with six, Rajkot with three, and Bhavnagar and Surat one case each, it was stated.

Odisha reports 18 new COVID-19 cases

Odisha reported 18 new COVID-19 cases today. The positivity rate today stood at 0.13 per cent, the Health Department said. The state recorded 19 cases yesterday.

The total number of Covid-related deaths remained at 9,126 as no death was recorded for 11th successive day.

Odisha currently has 131 active case, the state has reported 12,88,290 cases so far. Eight people have recovered.

Puducherry reports three COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

Puducherry reported three COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, with active cases rising to 14. The total number of cases are currently 1,65,809.

No Covid-related death were reported in last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in Puducherry remained at 1,962.

The death rate stands at 1.18 per cent and the recovery rate at 98.81 per cent according to data by the Department of Health.

So far 16,96,697 doses have been administered out of which 9,65,466 were first doses, 7,09,237 were second doses and 21,994 booster doses.

India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeds 191.15 Cr: Health Ministry

India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 191.15 Cr which has been achieved through 2,38,96,925 sessions.

Vaccination programme for the age group 12-14 years, which started on March 16, 2022, more than 3.15 Cr (3,15,28,673) adolescents have been administered with the first dose.

As per health ministry reports, 1,04,06,091 (1st dose), 1,00,28,814 (2nd dose), and 50,07,651 (precautionary dose) have been administered to the health care workers.

Whereas 1,84,17,515 (1st dose), 1,75,63,748 (2nd dose), and 81,33,543 (precautionary dose) have been given to front line workers.

In the age group of 18-44 years, 55,65,38,161 (1st dose), 48,42,32,281 (2nd dose), and 3,67,871 jabs of the precautionary dose were given

In the age group of 45-59 years, 20,31,29,584 (1st dose), 18,95,10,390 (2nd dose), and 3,67,871 jabs of the precautionary dose were given

In the age group of 60 years or more, 12,70,06,271 jabs of 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 11,81,18,199 (2nd dose), and 1,61,35,371 precaution doses were given.

Maharashtra's Thane District Reports 19 COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

The COVID-19 tally in Thane district of Maharashtra rose by 19 to reach 7,09,312, an official said today.

These cases were reported on Friday.

As nobody succumbed to the infection during the day, the number of deaths in the district remained unchanged at 11,894, he said, adding that the mortality rate is 1.67 per cent.

In neighbouring Palghar district, the caseload stood at 1,63,612, while the death count is 3,407, another official said.
