New Delhi: India has recorded a total of 16,561 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 4,42,23,557, according to the Union Health Ministry.
With 49 new fatalities due to Covid in the last 24 hours, the overall Covid-related death count has reached 5,26,928.
India's active caseload currently stands at 1,23,535 and accounts for 0.31 per cent of the total cases.
The recovery rate is currently at 98.5 per cent. As many as 18,053 recoveries from the Coronavirus infection were logged in the last 24 hours thereby increasing the total recoveries to 4,35,73,094.

Odisha Reports 583 Covid Cases In 24 Hours
Odisha reported 583 new COVID-19 cases, including 126 children today, pushing the tally to 13,21,780, a health department bulletin said.
The COVID-19 death count rose to 9,154 as a 75-year-old man succumbed to the pathogen in Kendrapara district, it said.
The state had logged 530 infections and a fatality on Thursday.
Sundargarh district reported the highest number of fresh infections at 137, followed by 77 in Khurda district.
There are now 4,407 active COVID-19 cases, of which 1,081 are in Sundargarh.
As many as 862 more people were cured of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 13,08,166.
Fifty-three other patients have died due to comorbidities thus far.
The daily positivity rate was at 3.39 per cent as 17,201 samples were tested for the infection in the last 24 hours.

Arunachal Pradesh Logs 39 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 66,353 today as 39 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said.
The northeastern state on Thursday had recorded 41 recoveries against 21 new cases.
The COVID-19 death count remained at 296, with no new fatality recorded in the last 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Among the new cases, nine were reported from Shi-Yomi district, eight from East Siang and seven from Namsai, the official said.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 216 active COVID-19 cases, while 65,841 people have recuperated from the disease thus far.
Namsai district has the highest number of active cases at 38, followed by Upper Siang at 29, East Siang (24), West Kameng (16) and Lower Subansiri with 13 active cases.
A total of 12,86,790 samples have been tested for Coronavirus in the state thus far, including 533 on Thursday, Jampa added.
So far over 18.10 lakh people have been inoculated with Coronavirus vaccines in the state, State Immunisation Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung said.

Avoid Large Gatherings On Independence Day As Covid Cases Rise: Centre To States
As the country continues to record an average of over 15,000 coronavirus cases daily, the Centre has asked States to ensure there are no large gatherings for Independence Day celebrations and that everyone follows Covid protocols.
The Union Home Ministry has also conveyed to all States and Union Territories to carry out a 'Swachh Bharat' campaign at a prominent location of each district in the state and UT and carry out a fortnight and month-long campaign to keep it 'Swachh' through voluntary civil action.
In a communication, the ministry said, "As a precaution, against COVID-19, large congregations in the ceremony be avoided. It is imperative that Covid guidelines are followed".
India added 16,561 new coronavirus cases taking the total tally of Covid cases to 4,42,23,557, while the active cases dipped to 1,23,535, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
The death count climbed to 5,26,928 with 49 fatalities which include 10 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The Home Ministry also asked government departments and educational institutions to carry out tree plantation programmes to spread awareness for conservation of environment.

Maharashtra's Thane Sees 212 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Thane district of Maharashtra recorded 212 new coronavirus positive cases, which took its overall infection tally to 7,36,029, a health official said today.
With the addition of these cases on Thursday, there are now 1,206 active cases in the district, he said.
As no patient succumbed to the infection during the day, the death count remained unchanged at 11,936, while the recovery count rose to 7,23,426, he added.
