Coronavirus Highlights: 8,582 New Covid Cases In India, 4 Related Deaths

India COVID-19 Cases: 10virus-related deaths were reported yesterday and the death count stands at 5,24,757.

New Delhi:

India reported 8,582 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, which increased the country's case count to 4,32,22,017 said the Health Ministry. Besides, with four virus-related deaths also being reported yesterday, the Covid death count stood at 5,24,761.

Currently, there are 44,513 active cases in the country, comprising 0.09 per cent of the cumulative cases. The daily positivity rate recorded yesterday was 2.41 per cent. Nearly 195 crore vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country.

The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year.

Two new COVID-19 cases in Andamans

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 10,055 on Sunday as two more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

Both new patients have travel history, it said.

The Union territory now has six active cases, while 9,920 people have recovered from the disease, including one in the last 24 hours.

Over 500 new COVID-19 cases in Thane for 3rd day
Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 543 new COVID-19 cases for the third day in a row, raising its infection count to 7,13,653, news agency PTI reported quoting an official.
These new cases were recorded on Saturday, he said.

The district had reported 531 new cases of coronavirus on Friday and 513 infections on Thursday, as per official data.
