Coronavirus LIVE: 8,084 New Covid Cases In India, 10 Related Deaths

India Covid-19 cases: The daily positivity rate recorded yesterday was 2.71% while the national recovery rate was 98.68%.

New Delhi:

India reported 8,084 new coronavirus cases on Monday, while 10 more virus-related deaths increased the country's death count to 5,24,771, according to the health ministry. The active cases stand at 47,995, comprising 0.1 per cent of the cumulative cases.

The daily positivity rate recorded yesterday was 2.71 per cent while the national recovery rate was 98.68 per cent. Over 195 crore vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country.

Gujarat reports 111 new COVID-19 cases, no fresh death
Gujarat reported 111 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, raising its overall tally to 12,26,363, while no new death linked to the infection was registered in the state, the health department said.

The number of fatalities remained unchanged at 10,945, said the department in a release.

Also, 57 coronavirus patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, pushing up their cumulative number to 12,14,586, it said.

The count of active cases increased to 832, the release said.

District-wise, Ahmedabad reported the highest number of 58 new cases, followed by Vadodara 20, Gandhinagar 11 and Rajkot seven, among others.

Sikkim reports one new COVID-19 case
Sikkim reported one new COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 39,181, according to a health department bulletin on Monday.

East Sikkim district reported the lone COVID-19 case.

The Himalayan state now has 12 active COVID-19 cases, while 37,967 persons have recovered from coronavirus and 749 others have migrated to other states.

Maharashtra Active Covid Cases Jump 241% From 5,127 To 17,480 In 10 Days
The active Covid cases in Maharashtra have seen a whopping rise of 241 per cent from 5,127 cases on June 3 to 17,480 case on June 13, in a span of 10 days, showed the state health bulletin data on Monday.

Maharashtra also reported one Covid death while the case fatality rate is at 1.86 percent.

According to the health department data, Maharashtra recorded 9,354 COVID-19 cases in May, of which 5,980 were reported from Mumbai. The state also recorded 17 deaths last month.

Most patients have mild symptoms and fast recovery: Doctors on Maharashtra Covid spike

Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, medical experts say most of the patients are showing mild symptoms and fatality is low in the present "mild wave", and also no new virus variant of concern has been observed, reports news agency PTI.

The patients were being administered paracetamol, and not Remdesivir drug, which was used for patients in the first and second COVID-19 waves, they said.

According to the health department data, Maharashtra recorded 9,354 COVID-19 cases in May, of which 5,980 were reported from Mumbai. The state also recorded 17 fatalities last month.

Mizoram reports two more COVID-19 cases, one death

Mizoram on Monday reported two new COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day spike this year, taking the tally to 2,28,575, a health official said. The state had reported 28 cases on Sunday.

The coronavirus death toll rose to 701 after a three-month-old infant succumbed to the infection at a COVID-19 health centre in Lunglei town on Sunday, he said.

Mizoram now has 168 active cases, while 2,27,706 people have recovered from the infection.

Malaysia reports 1,571 new COVID-19 infections, 1 new death
Malaysia reported 1,571 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Sunday, bringing the national total to 4,526,298, according to the health ministry.

There is one new imported case, with 1,570 being local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.

One more death has been reported, bringing the death toll to 35,712.

Thane reports over 600 new COVID-19 cases
With the addition of 616 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Thane district of Maharashtra has gone up to 7,14,269, an official said on Monday.

These new cases were recorded on Sunday, he said. The district has been reporting more than 500 new cases of the viral infection for last four days.
