New Delhi:

India reported 949 new COVID-19 cases today, taking the coronavirus tally to 4,30,39,974. According to Union Health Ministry, the country also reported 6 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,21,742.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 currently stands at 11,191.

The active cases account for 0.03 per cent of the total caseload, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 per cent.

810 recoveries in the last 24 hours increases the total recoveries to 4,25,07,038.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.26 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.25 per cent, according to the ministry.

Free Covid Booster Shots At Delhi Government Hospitals Soon
The Delhi government Friday said precaution doses of coronavirus vaccines will soon be provided free of cost to people at its hospitals.

The move comes as the national capital witnesses an uptick in coronavirus cases and a rise in positivity rate.

India rolled out precaution dose of COVID-19 vaccines for all people aged above 18 years at private centres on Sunday. Those who have completed nine months after the second shot are eligible for it.

Telangana: 15 new COVID-19 cases
Telangana on Friday recorded 15 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,91,595 so far. Hyderabad reported the highest number of cases with nine. A bulletin said 30 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries till date was 7,87,264.

The recovery rate stood at 99.45 per cent. No fresh fatality occurred due to the infectious disease and the death toll continued to be 4,111.

The bulletin said 12,952 samples were tested today.

Tamil Nadu records 22 fresh coronavirus cases
Tamil Nadu recorded 22 new coronavirus cases on Friday taking the overall caseload to 34,53,210 while no fatalities were reported, the Health department said.

One person who returned from the United Kingdom was among the fresh infections recorded today. The UK returnee underwent an RT-PCR test at the Chennai airport and his samples returned positive.

Among those who have tested positive in the last 24 hours include 12 men and 10 women, according to a bulletin.

Maharashtra reports 69 COVID-19 cases, one death; active patient tally falls below 700
Maharashtra on Friday recorded 69 new coronavirus cases and one pandemic-related death, the health department said. The number of active cases in the state slipped to 681.

The caseload rose to 78,75,620 and death toll reached 1,47,827.

On Thursday, Maharashtra had reported 103 new infections and five fatalities.

The districts of Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Hingoli, Osmanabad, Buldhana, Yavatmal, Wardha and Bhandara recorded zero active cases.

Odisha logs 17 new COVID-19 cases, one fresh fatality
Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 12,87,902 on Friday as 17 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

The coronavirus death toll mounted to 9,123 as a 53-year-old woman succumbed to the disease in Dhenkanal district, it said.

Odisha had reported 11 cases and zero fatality on Thursday.

Nearly 48% Rise In Home Isolation Cases Of Covid In A Week In Delhi: Report
Amid an uptick in daily cases of COVID-19 in Delhi and the positivity rate going beyond two per cent, there has been a rise of nearly 48 per cent in the number of home isolation cases in the last one week, according to official data, reported news agency Press Trust of India.

On Thursday, the number of home isolation cases stood at 574 while 325 new coronavirus cases were recorded with a positivity rate of 2.39 per cent.

The daily cases have been on the rise in the last few days while the positivity rate here has been registered in excess of one per cent since April 4 when it had stood at 1.34 per cent.

As the Covid positivity rate in the national capital has jumped from 0.57 per cent on April 1 to 2.39 per cent on April 14, the number of home isolation cases has shown an upward trend in the last one week.

43 New COVID-19 Cases In Noida, 16 Of Them Children

Forty-three people, including 16 children, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar, the district health department said on Thursday.

The number of active cases in the district has reached 156 now, the department said.

Over 25 per cent of the new cases in the last one week have been reported among children, it noted.

According to the official figures, 43 more have tested positive for the infection since Thursday 6 am while 10 have got cured during the period.

"Of the new cases, 16 children below 18 years of age were found positive. In the last one week, there have been 167 new cases of which 44 or 26.3 per cent have been cases of children," Chief Medical Officer Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma said.

In the wake of the increasing cases, the health department had on Wednesday issued an advisory on reporting of school students catching COVID-19 or showing its symptoms in a preventive measure against the pandemic.

"You are requested that if any child studying in your school has cough, cold, fever, diarrhea or any symptom of COVID-19, then you are requested to immediately inform the chief medical officer's office using help line no - 1800492211 or email id mailto:cmogbnr@gmail.com" ncmogbnr@gmail.com, so that proper treatment can be provided in time," the advisory stated.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 98,832 people in Gautam Buddh Nagar, adjoining Delhi, have tested positive for COVID-19, while 490 of them have died due to the infection, according to official data.

Delhi on Thursday reported 325 fresh COVID-19 cases, which is the highest in 40 days, and zero deaths, while the positivity rate was recorded at 2.39 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
