India COVID-19 LIVE: The country also reported 23 deaths due to Covid in the last 24 hours.

New Delhi:

India on Friday reported 6,298 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of infections to 4,45,22,777.

The country also reported 23 new Covid related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death tally to 5,28,273.

India's active caseload currently stands at 46,748 which accounts for 2.04 per cent of the total cases.

The recovery rate currently is at 98.71 per cent. As many as 5,961 recoveries were made in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,39,47,756.

Puducherry Reports 75 New COVID-19 Cases

Puducherry logged 75 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall caseload to 1,73,817, a senior Health Department official said here on Saturday.

Director of Health G Sriramulu in a release said, the Health Department examined 1,301 samples in the last 24 hours ending 10 am today and found 75 new cases spread over Puducherry (55), Karaikal (18), Mahe and Yanam regions (one case each).

The active cases were 491 which comprised 16 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 475 in-home quarantine.

Sriramulu said 47 patients recovered during the last 24 hours and the overall recoveries were 1,71,356. The total death count remained at 1,970.

Covid Pandemic Taught Us To Adapt, Modernise Ourselves: Chief Justice Of India

COVID-19 pandemic has "taught us to adapt, change and modernise ourselves", Chief Justice of India U U Lalit said on Saturday while stressing on "assimilating the advantages of technology in our lifestyle."

Speaking at the inauguration of paperless courts in 30 districts in Odisha, CJI Lalit said there are many advantages of technological advancement and now a common man sitting in the remotest part of the country can have access to justice.

The paperless courts were inaugurated in presence of Justices D Y Chandrachud and M R Shah and Orissa High Court Chief Justice S Muralidhar.

"COVID-19 pandemic has taught us to adapt, change and modernise ourselves. The advantages of technology are here for us not only to witness but assimilate into our lifestyle," CJI Lalit said.

Odisha Reports 233 New COVID-19 Cases

Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,31,586 on Saturday as 233 more people, including 34 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

The state had recorded 214 infections on Friday.

Odisha's coronavirus total death count remained unchanged at 9,186 as no fresh fatality was reported. Besides, 53 other patients have died due to comorbidities so far, it said.

The state now has 1,630 active cases, while 13,20,717 patients have recovered from the disease to date, including 267 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra's Thane Reports 88 New COVID-19 Cases

Thane district of Maharashtra has reported 88 new COVID-19 cases, which took its infection tally to 7,44,323, a health official said on Saturday.

With the addition of these cases on Friday, there are now 885 active cases in the district, he said.

The total death count remained unchanged at 11,958 as no death  was reported due to the infection during the day, the official said, adding that the recovery count has reached 7,32,145, he added
