COVID-19 Live Updates: India Logs 11,539 New Covid Cases, 34 Deaths In 24 Hours

According to the Health Ministry, the country also reported 36 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,27,289.

New Delhi:

India on Sunday recorded 11,539 fresh coronavirus infections that pushed its tally to 4,43,39,429, while the number of active cases came down to 99,879, according to Union health ministry data.

The death count due to COVID-19 climbed to 5,27,332 with 34 fatalities, including nine deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.23 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.59 per cent, the ministry said.

Telangana Reports 252 New Covid Cases

Telangana on Sunday recorded 252 new Covid cases, taking the tally to 8,31,874 so far.

Hyderabad district saw most of the cases with 143.

A health department bulletin said 291 people recovered from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries was 8,25,091 till date.

The recovery rate stood at 99.18 per cent.

No fresh fatality due to the infectious disease occurred in Telangana and the total death count continued to be at 4,111.

The bulletin said 17,029 samples were tested across the state today.

The number of active cases was 2,672.

West Bengal Reports 296 New Covid Cases, 4 Deaths

West Bengal logged 296 new Covid cases on Sunday, pushing the tally to 21,04,755, a health department bulletin said.

The positivity rate for the day was 3.07 per cent as 296 new infections were detected out of 9,634 samples tested, it said.

The total death count rose to 21,441 as four more persons died due to the disease in the day, the bulletin said.

At least 482 more people recovered from the virus infection during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,79,423.

West Bengal now has 3,891 active Covid cases.

Maharashtra Reports 1,832 New Covid Cases, Active Cases Now At 11,641

Maharashtra on Sunday reported 1,832 Covid cases and two fatalities, which took the tally to 80,84,383 and the death count to 1,48,195, a health department official said.

A day earlier, the state had reported 1,855 cases and two deaths.

Of the new cases, Mumbai Circle led with 1,259, followed by Pune Circle (295), Nashik Circle (78), Nagpur Circle (100), Kolhapur Circle (39), Latur Circle (32), Aurangabad Circle (16), and Akola Circle (13).

One of the two Covid fatalities was reported from Mumbai city and the other from Satara in western Maharashtra, the official said.

The recovery count increased by 2,055 in the past 24 hours and touched 79,24,547, leaving Maharashtra with an active caseload of 11,641.

Mumbai accounts for 5,761 active cases, followed by 1,925 in Thane and 1,579 in Pune, he said.

Delhi Reports 942 Covid Cases, No New Death

Delhi on Sunday reported 942 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 7.25 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

No new death has been reported due to the disease.

The fresh cases on Sunday came out of 13,001 tests conducted the previous day, the bulletin said.

With this, Delhi's caseload went up to 19,93,823 and the total death count to 26,420.

On Saturday, Delhi saw 1,109 COVID-19 cases, with a positivity rate of 11.23 per cent, and nine fatalities due to the viral disease.

The city on Friday had logged 1,417 COVID-19 cases, with a positivity rate of 7.53 per cent, and three fatalities.

Gujarat Reports 230 New Covid Cases, Active Cases At 2,287

Gujarat on Sunday reported 230 fresh cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 12,67,780, an official from the state health department said.

The total death count remained unchanged at 10,999, while the count of recoveries reached 12,54,494 after 496 patients were discharged, the official said.

With this, Gujarat now has 2,287 active cases, with 22 patients on ventilator support, he said.

Odisha Reports 287 New Covid Cases, 1 Death

Odisha's Covid tally rose to 13,25,061 on Sunday as 287 more people, including 62 children, tested positive for the virus, a health department bulletin said.

The total death count mounted to 9,163, with one more patient succumbing to the infection, it said.

The state had logged 320 fresh infections and one fatality on Saturday.

Odisha now has 2,485 active cases, while 13,13,360 patients have recovered from the disease.

11 new cases take COVID-19 tally of Andamans to 10,563
Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported 11 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which took the tally to 10,563, a health department official said on Sunday. All the fresh infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.

The Union Territory now has 46 active patients, and all of them are undergoing home quarantine.

Three persons recuperated from the disease on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries in the archipelago to 10,388.

Assam reports 119 new COVID cases, tally at 7,43,551
Assam logged 119 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 7,43,551, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said. The coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 6,679 for the fifth consecutive day. Besides, 1,347 other COVID patients have died due to comorbidities, it said.

The northeastern state detected the new infections from 4,210 sample tests, with a positivity rate at 2.83 per cent.

Of the fresh cases, Kamrup Metropolitan reported 34 and Dhemaji 10.

Covid: 9 fresh cases in Ladakh
Ladakh recorded nine new Covid cases that pushed the infection tally to 29,143, officials said on Sunday. Of the new cases, seven were detected in Leh district and two in Kargil during screening of 2,865 people, including 1,892 air travellers, they said.

Eleven people were discharged from hospital in Leh, taking the overall recoveries to 28,845 in Ladakh, officials said.

The number of active cases stands at 69 - 61 in Leh and eight in Kargil, officials said.

278 new COVID-19 infections in Thane; active cases cross 1,900 mark
As many as 278 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking its infection tally to 7,38,453, a health official said on Sunday.

With the addition of the latest numbers on Saturday, the district currently has 1,905 active COVID-19 cases, he said.

The death count stood in Thane remained unchanged at 11,938, while the recovery count has reached 7,25,082, he added.
