Coronavirus Highlights: India Reports Nearly 6,168 New COVID-19 Cases

India COVID-19 Cases Live: The active cases comprise 0.14 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.67 per cent, the ministry said.

India COVID-19 Highlights: The active cases comprise 0.13 per cent of the total infections.

India added 6,168 new coronavirus infections in a day, taking total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,44,42,507, even as the active cases declined to 59,210, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

Till date 5,27,932 people have died to the infection, including 21 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, which took into account two deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.13 per cent of the total infections, with 98.68 per cent of the once infected people able to fight off the infection, the health ministry said.

Maharashtra Records 1,258 Covid Cases, 6 Deaths; Active Tally Now 9,197

Maharashtra today reported 1,258 new COVID-19 cases and six more deaths linked to the infection, which took the tally to 81,02,377 and the toll to 1,48,257, a health official said.

Of the new cases, 678 were from the Mumbai administrative circle, followed by the Pune (381), Nagpur (56), Kolhapur (49), Nashik (35), Akola (16), Aurangabad (12) and the Latur circle (9).

Telangana Records 177 New Covid Cases
Telangana on Friday recorded 177 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 8,34,814. Hyderabad district saw most of the cases with 69. A health department bulletin said 290 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries was 8,29,410 till date.

Nashik Reports 34 New COVID-19 Cases, Takes Active Tally To 234

Maharashtra's Nashik district recorded 34 new cases of coronavirus today that raised the tally of infections to 4,81,538, an official said.

The toll remained unchanged at 8,904, while the count of recoveries reached 4,72,400 after 50 patients recovered during the day, he said.

The district is now left with 234 active cases, the official said.

More than 201.36 crore vaccine doses provided to States, UTs under vaccination drive: Centre
The Union Government provided over 201.36 crore vaccines to states and Union Territories and of these more than 5.47 crore doses are still available, according to official data.

In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs, the Centre said in a statement.

Covid Update: Orissa Reports 226 New COVID-19 cases, 1 Virus-Related Death
Orissa's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,28,070 on Friday as 226 more people, including 19 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

The toll rose to 9,178 as an 81-year-old man succumbed to the disease in Bhubaneswar. Fifty-three other patients have died due to comorbidities so far, it said.

The state has 1,797 active cases, while 228 more people recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 13,17,042. The positivity rate was at 1.74 per cent as the new cases were detected after testing 13,026 samples

Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,28,070 on Friday as 226 more people, including 19 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
