New Delhi:
India recorded at least 1,660 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 tally to 4,30,18,032 as of Saturday. According to Union health ministry data, the active cases declined further to 16,741 today.
The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, it showed.
A reduction of 4,789 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.25 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.29 per cent, the ministry said.

Chhattisgarh sees 12 COVID-19 cases, no deaths
Chhattisgarh on Saturday reported 12 COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 11,52,050, while the death count remained unchanged at 14,034, an official said.
The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, stood at 0.14 per cent, he added.
The recovery count rose to 11,37,869 after five people completed home isolation during the day, leaving the state with 147 active cases, he said.
"Surguja recorded six cases, followed by two in Raipur, and one in Bilaspur, among other districts. No new coronavirus case was reported in 23 districts on Saturday. With 8,841 samples examined during the day, the numbers of tests carried out so far in Chhattisgarh went up to 1,74,68,276," he added.

India's cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage crosses 183.16 crore
India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed 183.16 crore with the administration of over 26 lakh doses during the past 24 hours, informed Union Health Ministry on Saturday.
"With the administration of more than 26,65,241 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 183.16 crore (1,83,16,09,155) as per provisional reports till 7 am today," the Ministry said in a press release.
Of these, a total of 1,04,03,456 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to healthcare workers, 99,96,160-second doses and 44,21,039 precaution doses, the Ministry said.
A total of 1,84,12,770 first doses of COVID vaccine have been administered to frontline workers (FLW), 1,75,0,0832-second doses and 67,91,012 precaution doses.

5.92 lakh people in Tamil Nadu vaccinated against COVID-19 in 26th Mega Vax drive
Tamil Nadu inoculated 5,92,008 lakh people against COVID-19 in the 26th mega vaccination exercise on Saturday of which 1,64,779 received their first dose while 4,01,731 got the second dose, the health department has said.
As many as 25,498 people received the precautionary booster dose during the campaign, a press release said.
In Tamil Nadu, 92.19 per cent of people over the age of 18 years received the first dose while 76.12 per cent got the second dose.
In the 25th mega vaccination camp conducted till last Saturday (March 19), vaccines were administered to 3.90 crore people.

Madhya Pradesh sees 23 COVID-19 cases, no deaths
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,41,015 on Saturday after the detection of 23 cases, while the death count remained unchanged at 10,734, an official said.
The positivity rate stood at 0.1 per cent for the second consecutive day, he added. The recovery count increased by 14 to touch 10,30,140, leaving the state with 141 active cases, the official informed.

Daily COVID-19 infections fall to 35 in Tamil Nadu
Fresh COVID-19 cases fell to 35 in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, pushing the caseload to 34,52,647, while the overall deaths remained unchanged at 38,025 with nil fatalities, the health department said.
Recoveries grew to 34,14,204 with 63 more people getting discharged in the last 24 hours leaving 418 active infections, a medical bulletin said.
Among the districts, Chennai added 12 cases while 10 districts reported less than 10 cases each. Eight districts -- Ariyalur, Dharmapuri, Kallakurichi, Karur, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Tiruvarur -- reported zero active infections.

Kerala records 496 coronavirus cases
Kerala reported 496 new COVID-19 cases and 141 virus-related deaths on Saturday taking the total number of people affected in the state to 65,30,690 and the death count to 67,772, respectively.
Of the 141 deaths, three occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 138 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court.
"Currently, there are 4,051 active COVID-19 cases in the state out of which only 12 per cent are admitted to hospitals," the state health department said in a release. It said the state has tested 16,883 samples in the last 24 hours.
Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases -- 138, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 70 cases and Kottayam with 56 cases.

Active Covid-19 cases drop to 395 in Andhra Pradesh
Active Covid-19 cases fell from 400 to 395 in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday when there were 41 cases. In 24 hours ending 9 AM, 75 people got discharged and there were no deaths, said a bulletin.
The gross positives now stood at 23,19,448, recoveries at 23,04,323 and deaths 14,730, the bulletin added.
Anantapuramu district reported 15 fresh cases and East Godavari 10. Of the remaining 11 districts, two reported zero and the others less than five new cases each.

43 new COVID-19 cases in Odisha
Odisha registered 43 more coronavirus cases on Saturday, while there was another fatality, the Health Department said. There are 431 active cases, while 69 COVID-19 patients recuperated in the last 24 hours, according to a bulletin.
The daily positivity rate was 0.1 per cent and the infections were detected out of 44,882 sample tests. The state had logged 55 cases and no fatality on Friday.

India records 4,100 more fatalities after Maharashtra, Kerala add backlog
India's COVID-19 death toll climbed to 5,20,855 with 4,100 fatalities recorded in a day and Maharashtra reconciling the number of deaths caused by the viral disease in the state, the Union health ministry said on Saturday.
Maharashtra reported a high death toll because of the inclusion of non-Covid fatalities (4,005) reported till Friday. The state reported two fresh deaths caused by the viral disease in the last 24 hours, according to a media bulletin.

Pakistan reports 189 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths in last 24 hrs
Pakistan has reported 189 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Friday.
With the new infections, the overall number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has risen to 1,523,590 in the country, according to the NCOC data.
A total of 367 people were reported to have recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,485,085, NCOC data showed.
According to the official data, four more deaths were registered during the last 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 30,340.

No new COVID-19 cases, fatalities in Puducherry
The union territory of Puducherry did not report any fresh coronavirus cases for a second straight day as the overall caseload remained at 1,65,774, a senior Health department official said on Saturday.
As many as 221 samples were tested during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Saturday, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release here.
The number of active cases stood at four and all the patients are in home quarantine, he added.
There were no fresh fatalities in the union territory and the death toll remained at 1,962.

COVID-19: Government says no state has reported deaths due to oxygen shortage
Few states and union territories have responded to the Centre's requests to furnish details on COVID-19 mortalities due to oxygen shortage and none of them have reported confirmed deaths due to it, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar informed Parliament said on Friday.
The government maintains data of COVID-19 cases and deaths reported by states and union territories.
Accordingly, the Union government has requested states and union territories to furnish details of suspected deaths due to oxygen shortage, Pawar said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

Delhi reports 112 new COVID-19 cases
Delhi reported 112 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours.
The total COVID-19 cases in the city moved up to 18,64,358 including 466 active cases.
According to Delhi Health Department bulletin, the city had a positivity rate of 0.41 per cent.
It said 100 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours and the total recoveries have gone up 18,37,742. The death toll is 26,150 and the case fatality rate is 1.40 per cent.
