India COVID-19 Cases: Country's weekly positivity rate stood at 0.29 per cent.

India recorded a total of 1,421 fresh coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the COVID-19 tally to 4,30,19,453. According to Union health ministry data, the active cases declined further to 16,187.

The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, it showed.

A reduction of 554 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.25 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.29 per cent, the ministry said.

Delhi reports 71 new COVID-19 cases
Delhi reported 71 fresh COVID-19 cases and one death in the past 24 hours, according to the health bulletin.

The total COVID-19 cases in the city moved up to 18,64,549 including 448 active cases.

According to the Delhi Health Department bulletin, the city had a positivity rate of 0.31 per cent.

The death toll is 26,151 and the case fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.

Govt considering dropping COVID pre-call announcements from phones after 2 yrs of pandemic
The COVID-19 awareness pre-call audio announcements set by telecom operators at the start of the pandemic may soon become history.

After almost two years of raising awareness about the disease, the government is now actively considering the removal of the COVID-19 pre-call messages after receiving representations that audio clips have served their intended purpose and are delaying critical calls during emergencies.

Official sources said the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has written to the Union Health Ministry requesting it to drop these pre-call announcements and caller tunes.

Pakistan reports 310 fresh COVID-19 infections, 5 deaths
Pakistan reported 310 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths in the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Sunday.

With the addition of new infections, the overall number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has risen to 1,523,900 in the country.

The total number of deaths due to the virus mounted to 30,345 with the addition of new fatalities, according to NCOC.

Puducherry reports no new COVID-19 case for third straight day
Puducherry reported zero fresh coronavirus cases for the third straight day on Sunday, a senior official of the health department said.

Health Department Director G Sriramulu said 185 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and no fresh case of infection surfaced. The overall caseload remained unchanged at 1,65,774.

There was no fresh fatality as well during the last 24 hours in the Union Territory and the death toll stood at 1,962.

Two active COVID cases in Andamans, tally remains at 10,032 with no fresh infection
Andaman and Nicobar Islands have just two active COVID patients who are undergoing home isolation, a health official said on Sunday. The caseload in the archipelago remained at 10,032 as no fresh coronavirus infection was reported in the last 24 hours, he said.

The death toll stood at 129 as no new fatality due to the disease was recorded during the period, he said.

No patient was cured of the disease on Saturday, and the total number of recoveries remained at 9,901.

The overall COVID-19 infection tally remained unchanged at 28,218 in Ladakh as no new case was reported, officials said on Sunday.

The recovery of four patients during the past 24 hours has brought down the number of active cases in Leh district to 18, while Kargil has already become coronavirus free, the officials said.

15 new COVID-19 cases in Thane, no death
Thane has reported 15 new cases of coronavirus, taking the infection count in the Maharashtra district to 7,08,744, an official said on Sunday.

These new cases were recorded on Saturday, he said.
