Coronavirus Highlights: India Logs 1,270 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

India Coronavirus Highlights: The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, it showed.

India Covid Cases: The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.25 per cent.

New Delhi:

India on Monday recorded 1,270 fresh coronavirus cases, bringing the the total number of cases to 4,30,19,453. According to Union health ministry data, the active cases declined further to 16,187.

The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, it showed.

A reduction of 554 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.25 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.29 per cent, the ministry said.

31 new COVID-19 cases in Bengal

West Bengal on Monday reported 31 new cases of COVID-19, which pushed the tally to 20,17,233, the health department said in its bulletin. The death count remained unchanged at 20,197 with no new fatality recorded, the bulletin said.  

At least 67 more recoveries were registered in the state, raising the total number f people cured of the disease to 19,95,356.

The recovery rate stood at 98.92 per cent. Bengal currently has 680 active cases.

Delhi reports 90 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

The national capital reported 90 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with a case positivity rate of 0.53 per cent, said the health bulletin by the Delhi government on Monday. 

With this, the active cases in the city stand at 444. 

As many as 94 COVID patients recovered from the disease during this period taking the total number of recovering since the onset of the pandemic to 18,38,044. 

No death was reported in the last 24 hours.

Over 183.49 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India: Government

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 183.49 crore on Monday, the Union health ministry said. More than 22 lakh vaccine doses had been administered till 7 pm on Monday, it said.

Over 1.35 crore (1,35,00,862) vaccine doses have been administered in the 12-14 age group, the ministry said.

So far, more than 2.27 crore (2,27,18,612) precaution doses have been given to healthcare workers, frontline workers and those aged above 60, it said.

The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late night.

The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 last year with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase. Vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced on March 1 for people aged over 60 and those aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

India launched vaccination for all people aged above 45 from April 1. The government then decided to expand its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above the age of 18 to be inoculated against the viral disease from May 1.

Chhattisgarh records 14 Covid cases, active tally below 150

Chhattisgarh on Monday reported 14 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 11,52,084, while no new death linked to the infection was registered in the state, an official said. The deaths remained unchanged at 14,034 with no fresh addition in the last 24 hours, the official said.

The positivity rate, or coronavirus cases detected per 100 tests, stood at 0.29 per cent, he said.

The recovery count in Chhattisgarh rose to 11,37,903 after two persons were discharged from hospital, while 20 others completed their home isolation period during the day, leaving the state with 147 active cases, he said.

Gujarat Reports 8 COVID-19 Cases

Gujarat reported eight COVID-19 cases on Monday, increasing its tally to 12,23,879, while the death count stood unchanged at 10,942, an official said. 

So far, 12,12,703 people have recovered from the infection, including 33 during the day, leaving the state with an active caseload of 234, he said.

The eight cases comprise three each in Gandhinagar and Vadodara districts, and one each in Ahmedabad and Dahod, he added.

A government release said 64,014 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Monday, increasing the total number of doses administered so far in the state to 10.59 crore.

The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu remains COVID-19 free with no active cases as on Monday, a local official said.

Madhya Pradesh logs 26 COVID-19 cases, no fatality

The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh rose to 10,41,065 on Monday after the detection of 26 cases while no death took place in the last 24 hours due to the viral infection, a health official said. The death count  remained unchanged at 10,734, the official said.

The positivity rate is 0.1 per cent, he said. The recovery count increased by 13 to reach 10,30,173, leaving MP with 158 active cases,.

With 20,578 samples examined during the day, the number of tests in MP went up to 2,87,86,121, he added. A government release said 11,56,80,941 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state, including 1,59,727 on Monday.

Mumbai logs 50 fresh COVID-19 cases, zero fatality

Mumbai on Monday reported 50 fresh coronavirus cases and zero fatality, the city civic body said. 

Mumbai's COVID-19 tally now stands at 10,57,879 while the death count remained unchanged at 19,559, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) bulletin.

On Sunday, Mumbai had reported 43 infections and one fatality.

Significantly, Mumbai's daily COVID-19 cases remain below 100 since March 2 this year. Mumbai recorded zero COVID-19 fatalities on 24 of the 28 days, including Monday, this month. Presently, the city has 290 active cases. The case positivity rate is 0.005 per cent.

29 New Covid-19 cases, no death in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh registered 29 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending 9 AM on Monday. A bulletin said 50 people recovered from the infection.

The total positive cases rose to 23,19,504, recoveries to 23,04,428 and death count was 14,730 with no fatalities today. The active cases decreased to 346, the bulletin added.

Maharashtra logs 110 new COVID-19 cases, no fresh fatality

Maharashtra on Monday reported 110 fresh COVID-19 cases and zero fatality, taking the tally of infections to 78,73,619, the state health department said. The COVID-19 deaths remained unchanged at 1,47,780, a health department report said.

On Sunday, Maharashtra had logged 140 coronavirus cases and one fatality.

Maharashtra is now left with 964 active cases in a total of 35 districts. Yavatmal, Washim and Hingoli districts have zero active cases, as per the report.

While the number of active cases in 23 districts is in a single digit, Ratnagiri, Nandurbar, Wardha, Jalna and Gondia districts each have only a single active case, it said.

With 72 patients discharged after COVID-19 treatment in the last 24 hours, the number of recoveries in Maharashtra rose to 77,24,875.

Maharashtra's case recovery rate is 98.11 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.87 per cent. The positivity rate jumped to 0.006 per cent from 0.004 per cent recorded a day before.

No fresh COVID-19 case, fatality in Nashik district

No fresh COVID-19 case and fatality was reported in Nashik district of Maharashtra on Monday for the third time since the pandemic began in March 2020, officials said. 

The tally of COVID-19 infections and the deaths remained unchanged at 4,76,002 and 8,899, respectively, in the district, health officials said. The tally of recoveries in the Nashik district so far is 4,67,089, leaving the district with 14 active cases.

Kerala reports 346 fresh COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths

Kerala on Monday recorded 346 fresh COVID-19 infections which raised the total caseload to 65,31,436. The southern state also reported 25 virus-related deaths which raised the total fatalities in Kerala to 67,822, according to a government release. 

Of the deaths, one was reported in the last 24 hours, three were those which occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 21 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release said. 

With 471 more people recovering from the virus since Sunday, the total recoveries in the state reached 64,59,057 and the active cases dropped to 3,682, the release said. As many as 11,939 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest with 76 cases, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (54) and Kottayam (40), the release said.

Pakistan records 186 new COVID-19 cases, one death in last 24 hours

Pakistan recorded 186 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Monday. 

With the new infections, the overall number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has risen to 15,24,086 in the Asian country, said the NCOC, the department leading the country's campaign against the pandemic, reported Xinhua.

A total of 110 people were reported to have recovered from the pandemic over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 14,85,426, showed data from the NCOC.

In addition, one more death was registered during the last 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 30,346.

No fresh COVID-19 cases in Puducherry for fourth straight day
The union territory of Puducherry did not record any fresh coronavirus cases for the fourth straight day apart from zero fatalities, a senior Health department official said on Monday.

As many as 29 samples were examined during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM and the overall caseload stood at 1,65,774, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release here.

There were only two active cases and they were in home quarantine. Two patients recovered during the last 24 hours as the overall recoveries went up to 1,63,810.

No fresh case in Ladakh, overall recoveries at 27,974
The more Covid patients were cured and discharged in Ladakh that took the overall recoveries to 27,974, officials said on Monday.

No fresh Covid case was reported in the Union Territory. The infection tally stands at 28,218, they said.

The Union Territory has recorded 228 Covid-related deaths -- 168 in Leh and 60 in Kargil, they said. There was no death reported on Sunday, they said.

Mizoram logs 63 fresh Covid cases, tally at 2,23,856

Mizoram reported 63 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, the lowest single-day count in over three months, as the tally mounted to 2,23,856, a health department official said.

On December 20, the state had logged 33 single-day infections.

The toll remained at 681 as no new fatality was reported for the second consecutive day, the official said.

Maharashtra Covid cases: Thane logs 3 new cases
With the addition of three new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 7,08,747, an official said on Monday.

These new cases were reported on Sunday, he said.

There was no fresh fatality and the death toll remained unchanged at 11,880, he said, adding that the COVID-19 mortality rate in the district stood at 1.67 per cent.
