New Delhi: India recorded 1,259 fresh coronavirus cases today, bringing the the total number of cases to 4,30,20,712. According to Union health ministry data, the active cases declined as well.
The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, it showed.
A reduction of 1,705 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.22 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.25 per cent, the ministry said.
183.53 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive.

Delhi records 95 Covid cases, positivity rate 0.45%
Delhi on Tuesday reported 95 COVID-19 cases and no fresh fatality due to the infection, while the positivity rate declined to 0.45 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. With these fresh cases, the national capital's tally increased to 18,64,734.
As many as 21,331 COVID-19 tests were conducted here the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin.
Delhi on Monday had reported 90 COVID-19 cases and no fresh death due to the viral disease, while the positivity rate stood at 0.53 per cent.
Gujarat reports five new COVID-19 cases, active cases down to 150
Gujarat on Tuesday reported five new coronavirus infections but no pandemic-related deaths, the health department said.
The state's caseload rose to 12,23,884. With 89 patients recovering during the day, the tally of recovered cases rose to 12,12,792.
The number of active cases dipped sharply to 150, the department said.
The COVID-19 deaths in the state remained unchanged at 10,942.
Mehsana and Vadodara districts reported two new cases each, while Ahmedabad reported one.
Chhattisgarh Records 27 COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths
Chhattisgarh on Tuesday reported 27 new coronavirus cases but no pandemic-related deaths. The state's caseload rose to 11,52,111, while the death count remained unchanged at 14,034, health officials said.
The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, stood at 0.30 per cent.
The recovery count rose to 11,37,927 after three persons were discharged from hospitals and 21 people completed their home isolation during the day, leaving the state with 150 active cases.

Madhya Pradesh records 18 new COVID-19 cases, zero death
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh rose to 10,41,083 on Tuesday after detection of 18 new cases, while no fresh death linked to the infection was reported in the state, a health department official said. The deaths remained unchanged at 10,734, the official said.
The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, stood at 0.1 per cent, same as the previous day, he said.
The recovery count increased by 24 to touch 10,30,197, leaving the state with 152 active cases, the official informed.
With 17,315 swab samples examined during the day for detection of COVID-19, the number of tests conducted so far in MP went up to 2,88,03,436, he added.
42 New COVID-19 Cases, One Death In Karnataka
Karnataka on Tuesday registered 42 fresh COVID-19 cases and one fatality, taking the total to 39,45,401 and 40,052 respectively, till date.
As many as 104 patients got discharged today while the number of recoveries was 39,03,651, according to a bulletin.
Of the new cases, 36 were from Bengaluru Urban, which recorded 71 recoveries and one death, said the bulletin. The number of active cases in the State was 1,656.
Jammu and Kashmir' Reports 13 New COVID-19 Cases
Jammu and Kashmir's COVID-19 caseload increased to 4,53,690 on Tuesday with 13 fresh infections while the deaths remained unchanged at 4,750, officials said.
Of the fresh cases, one was reported from the Jammu division and 12 from the Kashmir division of the union territory, they said.
Srinagar district recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 11, followed by one each in Kishtwar and Kulgam. Seventeen of the 20 districts in the union territory did not report any fresh cases.
Kerala records 424 fresh COVID-19 cases, 22 deathsKerala on Tuesday recorded 424 fresh COVID-19 infections which raised the total caseload to 65,31,860.
The southern State also reported 22 deaths which raised the total fatalities in Kerala to 67,844, according to an official press release.
Of the deaths, six occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 16 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release said.
With 528 more people recovering from the virus since Monday, the total recoveries in the State reached 64,59,585 and the active cases dropped to 3,555, the release said. As many as 17,846 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Odisha reports 37 new COVID-19 cases, 1 more death
Odisha on Tuesday reported 37 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the caseload to 12,87,549, while one more fatality took the death count to 9,120, the health department said in a bulletin. Nine children are among the newly infected, it said.
The state had logged 43 cases and one fatality on Monday.
Odisha now has 406 active coronavirus cases, while 12,77,970 patients have recovered from the disease, including 49 in the last 24 hours.
Data required for suggesting mixing of COVID-19 vaccine: Government
The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) needs adequate scientific data to make a recommendation on mixing of COVID-19 vaccines, the government said on Tuesday.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has granted permission to the Christian Medical College, Vellore to conduct phase-IV study with Covishield and Covaxin to compare immunogenicity of mixed vaccine regimen and to Bharat Biotech for phase-2 clinical trial to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of Covaxin with BBV154 (Adenoviral Intranasal COVID-19 vaccine), Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said.
"Adequate scientific data is required for NTAGI to make a recommendation on mixing of COVID-19 vaccines, at present this information is not available," Ms Pawar said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
Citing WHO data, Centre says India has "lowest" 374 COVID-19 deaths per million populationIndia has one of the "lowest" 374 COVID-19 deaths per million population, according to the World Health Organisation, compared to similarly affected countries like the USA, Brazil, Russia and Mexico, the government said on Tuesday.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar told the Rajya Sabha that at times, certain reports have speculated excess deaths, that is, higher than the official number of COVID-19 fatalities reported by India.
"These reports have mostly relied on unvalidated methodologies, or data sources used to derive 'estimates' are not reliable. In most of these studies, the results have been obtained using mathematical modelling techniques from a limited sample of small sub-population subgroups which is extrapolated to the entire country," she said.
"According to the data available with World Health Organisation (WHO), India has one of the lowest deaths per million (374 deaths per million population) which is much lower compared to similarly affected countries like the United States of America (2,920 deaths per million population), Brazil (3,092 deaths per million population), Russia (2,506 deaths per million population) and Mexico (2,498 deaths per million population)," she mentioned in her reply.
Maharashtra to withdraw cases of COVID lockdown violation
Maharashtra government has decided to withdraw all cases against people for violation of COVID lockdown, informed state Home Miniter Dilip Walse Patil on Tuesday.
"State Home Department has decided to withdraw all cases filed under IPC 188 during lockdown against students and citizens for violation of lockdown order. Once the decision is approved by the Cabinet, the process of withdrawal of cases will start," said Mr Patil.
Maharashtra has currently 964 active cases of COVID, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, India has logged 1,259 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday.

No COVID-19 Case For Fifth Straight Day In Puducherry
Puducherry did not report any new coronavirus case on Tuesday with the overall caseload remaining unchanged at 1,65,774.
This is the fifth consecutive day that no fresh case has been reported in the Union Territory.
Director of Health G Sriramulu, in a release, said the health department tested 339 samples in the last 24 hours and no new case of viral infection surfaced.
He said there are only two COVID patients in home quarantine. There was no fresh recovery of patients and the overall recoveries stood at 1,63,810.
Mr Sriramulu said no fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and the number of deaths also stood unchanged at 1,962.
The test positivity rate was zero while fatality and recovery rates were 1.18 per cent and 98.82 per cent, respectively.
The department has tested 22,27,961 samples so far and has found 18,72,610 samples out of them to be negative.
Mr Sriramulu said the department has administered 16,34,602 doses so far that comprised 9,47,434 first doses, 6,73,161 second doses and 14,007 booster doses.
Mizoram Reports 248 New Covid Cases, 3 More Deaths
Mizoram reported 248 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 185 more than the previous day, taking the tally to 2,24,104, a health department official said.
The state had reported 63 cases on Monday.
The number of deaths rose to 684, with three more patients succumbing to the virus.
Mizoram now has 1,162 active cases, while 2,22,258 people have recovered from the disease so far, he said.
According to State Immunisation Officer Lalmuanawma Jongte, over 8.23 lakh people have been inoculated till Monday.

7 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Maharashtra's Thane In 24 Hours
Thane has reported seven new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the infection count in the Maharashtra district to 7,08,754, an official said today.
These new cases were reported on Monday, he said.
The number of deaths remained unchanged at 11,880, he said, adding that the COVID-19 mortality rate in the district is 1.67 per cent.
In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 1,63,589, while the death count stands at 3,407, another official said.
